I like that Snit could see that Inciarte is our best defender at all three OF positions and moved him back to CF. Inciarte btw has 4 DRS in CF in a much smaller sample than Smith who is at 5 DRS (Smith DRS had been as high as 8, so he has a -4 DRS there after his hot start). Inciarte also has a 3 DRS in left field for an overall 7 DRS, again his sample size is smaller making his DRS numbers even more impressive.

Stupid play by Brewers there, breaking for third cost Braun an infield hit too as after that ball bounced up on Aybar no way he throws him out at first. But the short throw to third was easy enough.

I know this isn't the minors thread but I am also watching Gwinnett. Albies just made another throwing error on a play he had plenty of time. I'd say after watching both he and Swanson at short that Swanson seems the better shortstop all things considered.

I agree 76. I've watched both play and Swanson is the better option at SS. Albies has a lot of range and has that it factor over there but Swanson is more accurate.

Also, Teheran is locked in this season. If he keeps this up then he is more valuable than Shelby Miller and should bring back close to what he did especially with his contract.

Albies is also just turned 19. I think he should be given a chance to be shortstop and Swanson at 2b. Fooky was erratic also when he came up.

The Braves still have 4.5 years left on Julio's contract. He's 25 years old. You don't trade that unless you are blown away.

The Shelby Miller deal was being blown away. The Alex Wood deal was not. They should have kept Alex Wood until a better offer came along.

I don't know if he has better range and a better arm, though.

I think Swanson has as much range but it can appear that Albies is slightly better because he's so small and so looks sometimes like he's covering more ground when he's probably not or if so not by much. Swanson clearly has a more accurate arm and I've seen him make some really accurate throws deep in the hole. So if Albies has a better arm he's not as accurate with it, but they also seems similar there with Swanson being more accurate.

They said all along their plan is for them to be our second baseman and shortstop of the future. So yes one will have to eventually move off short in that case.

I'm expecting to see Swanson promoted to AAA in a few weeks and he and Albies to alternate between second and third for a while there. That should provide a fairly good indication of which one should play short. Spring training could allow another comparison.

I think the middle ground is this way nobody can complain they botched the call. So if you give a manager afew more seconds to challenge there isn't many controversial calls.

Yeah, I know one will move. What i meant is once we make a decision will the 2b have to stay in the minors for an extended period or would he just start playing 2b for Atlanta? The reason I ask is bc I don't want 1 to have to wait bc we moved him to 2b. I'd like to get them both at Gwinnett soon and alternate 2b/SS so we can have them both ready to go in Atlanta next season.

Not me. At this point I'm rooting for starters, ff, inciarte, viz and mallex. Everyone else doesn't matter and losses help us get a chance for 1-1 nxt yr.

There are a few differences (mostly on the DP pivot), but my guess is the one who is moving to 2B will go to the Arizona Fall League (or another winter league) and play it there.
