Albies looks like he is starting to get the bat going again. Swanson's recent struggles continue so far tonight.

I have 0 worries about Swanson and Albies. They both have star written all over them. Fried with a huge start tonight. Our pitching has to be the deepest I've ever seen.

Don't know who needed tonight the worst -- Sims, Thurman or Fried. All I know is that ALL OF THEM got it. Huge night to build on.

They watched the draft too

Swanson missed three games (or was it four) for his friend and teammate's funeral. Don't expect him to just pick up where he left off.

Looking like Arizona drafted us the wrong college SS. Bregman is killing it at AA

If I recall, this is Fried's second dominant start in a row

It is. I will give a snippet of what I saw tonight shortly. Fried was dealing.

I've said for months now that I'd try everything I could to pry him away from Houston. He's exactly what we need.

FF?

FF?

I'd trade FF for him in a second. If the Astros turn it around in the next couple of weeks they could want Teheran.

How bout a blockbuster? Teheran and FF for AJ reed, bregman, and another prospect or 2

Evan Phillips has had a good start to his first go at full-season ball. Anyone have a scouting report on him?

I'm in. I don't see how they are gonna be super competitive next year anyways. Reed and Bregman would probably make us more competitive next year anyways.

Now that Allard has joined the Rome rotation, we have the 6 arms, listed below. Is a promotion from this group imminent, or will they go with a 6-man rotation? Not sure what the precedent is on something like this in A ball, but I'd be tempted to promote Weigel to Carolina for his next start.

Fried (22)
Weigel (22)
Touissant (20)
Sanchez (19)
Soroka (19
Allard (19)

Swanson is definitely in the midst of a slump. Players have those sometimes. He'll probably get hot again at some point. The good news is that he's playing solid defense.

I believe Anderson will sign quick. So when would he be assigned?

And I also should say that in a way the struggles in AAA from Albies and the midseason slump from Swanson are actually good in a way. If both player were hitting the cover off the ball and playing great defense (Swanson is playing good defense by the way, or at least solid defense) then there would be pressure from their agents and the players union to call them up midseason. But as it stand now, there is no pressure. Hopefully they'll both get red hot in August and maybe give them a cup of coffee in September if it doesn't change their status when they hit arb and all that stuff.

Albies is hitting around .270 over the last 10, but he's all over the bases. Swanson will struggle, it's early!

Fried looks soooo good.

He doesn't graduate until June 23. Can't sign before then. Expect GCL for him.

EVERYBODY: For God's sake! Swanson's college teammate drowned. He took a three-day leave to attend the funeral; he was team captain when the kid was a redshirt freshman last year. This is not a slump; this is someone dealing with the real world, perhaps for the first time. Save your concern for the Everett kid's family. Swanson will be fine.

Far more than the low BA or high K-rate, I've been concerned about Riley's lack of power since the very beginning of the season. He's just not hitting anything out.
