How about Alex Lee?

The Samford product, a near afterthrought as a 22nd-round pick this June, has been one of the hottest hitters in all of baseball in the last two weeks.

In his last nine games for Danville, Lee (6-1, 195) a lefty hitter, has gone 17-for-25 (.680!) with three homers and seven RBIs. He is hitting .400 for Danville overall.

You never know where it'll come from.

Assume he is done since that is the pattern for the GCL.. Toronto has a good lineup he just mowed down.

Once those guys come out do the opposing teams score? I only keep up with the big guy's stats... Wondering if that league has decent offense

yes there is offense. and very bad defense. Brcye K'd their best hitter(among others).. Bo Bichette is hitting over .400 with 4 dongs and 30is rbis...

maybe not solid, but a better than lately outing.. hardly any Ks, 3BBs, wild pitch, hit bats man, and several line outs. I still think our AAA team is really hurting with coaches down there.

yea, totally seems like it -- that something I never even thought about when they brought Snit up to Atlanta, I'm wondering if the FO considered it.

Its a bad look when we have to send a highly thought of pitcher down to AA so he can regain his mechanics.

Pache apparently has an arm. in the GCL game, he has thrown 2 runners out at home in consecutive innings.. then just had another single where he didn't get the guy at home.. So 2 for 3 on out field assists today...

Jose Ramirez tried to blow the game, but he was bailed out by a DP and Gwinnett breaks their losing streak.

Good question. I checked:

Wentz: 12 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 5 BB, 18 K
Muller: 8.2 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 4 BB, 10 K
Wilson: 8 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 9 K
Anderson: 6 IP, 5 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 4 K

Total for the group: 34.2 IP, 18 H, 2 ER, 12 BB, 41 K (absurd, frankly). Per 9: 4.7 H, 3.1 BB, 10.6 K, 0.52 ERA

Rest of the GCL Braves pitching staff: 168 IP, 153 H, 65 ER, 63 BB, 156 K. Per 9: 8.2 H, 3.4 BB, 8.4 K, 3.48 ERA

So definitely separated from the pack.

Good lord. I'm assuming we'll see Weigel or Fried move up to Carolina before too long. What's even more crazy is that we have 4 high upside SP prospects behind even these 6 from this year's draft, plus Mejia and Harrington.

Rome and Mississippi are just stacked with talent right now. And mqt is right. We have about 4 or 5 high end pitchers behind them.

I constantly see people think he's a 4th OF...or just good enough. I'll take what he's doing at the MLB level right now. He definitely is one of the position players above A that has a clue when he's at the plate (Albies, Swanson....). I really like Dustin. He's young too...I think those underrating him will be pleasantly surprised.

Chipper's first knee injury was a non-contact injury. He landed awkwardly while attempting to avoid a tag while running to first in a spring training game against the Yankees. I was there.

The injury later in his career came when he attempted to make a jump throw from deep behind third base. Again, he landed wrong.

I like him too. I don't know if he'll ever be a top-tier guy, but there are a lot of ways to score runs. I'd like to see him hit a few more HRs, but that might come. If he could develop into an effective RHH half of a platoon in LF and brush up on his 3B, he could really be a helpful part on a successful team.

I don't think Peterson will be a star, but he has a decent chance of being an average starting corner outfielder. Plenty of value in that.

I do think you need some stars to get into the playoffs. The guys who I think will play that role include Freeman, Teheran, Albies, Acuna, Swanson, Soroka and Allard. Plus one or two others may develop into better players than they currently project.

Hey scapi, I was going to ask if you've seen Acuna. He's the real deal. Looks like a ballplayer...confident. I got to shake his hand and tell him I like his game. He said "thanks, I'm working hard...." He has star or close to it potential and if he realizes it, he will be in the majors.

Last year I gave a report on: Albies, Tanner Murphy (MEH), Braxton (just...ok), Povse, Edgerton (MEH), Toussaint (What an arm)....this year I was going to do Allard, Acuna, Riley, Toussaint, Weigel...but I haven't had time. I will say that the Rome Braves are amazing to watch. Not necessarily for wins, but for the collective talent. Awesome.

I have noticed over the season that he does get plunked with regularity, so I checked his player page at Baseball Reference and he had been hit 31 times going into tonight's game and somehow--I certainly can't figure it out--he got plunked again.

Was right there with the highly-regarded Heath Quinn on the Samford University leaderboard. Seems to be having some problems in the field at Danville. He was a senior draftee in the 22nd round, so my guess is there are questions about his ceiling, but there's no question the guy can stick. He'll draw attention if he can maintain his torrid pace of the past few days.
