That Mets lineup should not be doing any damage outside of Daniel Murphy. Maholm is pitching at home, so Braves win 4-1 today.

Lville21

Braves own the best home record in the majors at 49-19 yet they were only 5-4 at home against 50-win Miami.

Feel sorry for the sleepless Mets. They get to play behind the slowest working pitcher in the majors and he is paired up with the umpire who takes the longest to call balls and strikes.

No more Buck and Byrd for the Mets -- they were Braves crushers this year. Also having no Wright today helps.

Paul is just not a good pitcher and I'll be glad when he's gone. You have to wonder if bringing back Huddy on a 1 yr deal would be something FW should really consider. Who knows what will happen with Beachy and if he can bounce back. Also, the ump screwed BJ on his last at bat. No way that second strike was a strike and I'm not even sure he went around. It seemed like the ump just wanted to end the inning and get this game going.

Braves1976

Maholm isn't a bad fifth starter, some years decent number 4 starter. But he is so annoying when he nibbles too much. He basically gave up that run by nibbling against a .198 hitter and then gives the pitcher one right over the heart of the plate.

No more than I would rather have Loe, but I agree with your point. Maholm is not that bad, he's still a decent 5th starter even in a down year. He just better not be starting in the playoffs.

09-02-2013, 01:17 PM
Chip is right why isn't FF being considered for MVP? I mean Yadier's numbers don't rival FF and FF plays GG defense as well. Who else would be considered the MVP in the NL? McCutchen is up there but FF has been the most consistent player on the team with the best record. Isn't that what an MVP is?

Braves1976

I'd rather have Huddy or Beachy.

I expect we'll miss them come playoff time. Though I reckon Beachy should return, but maybe only a bullpen role to be safe.

Despite the rough game yesterday, Wood has been a huge reason we haven't really missed Huddy yet. Beachy was pitching well before he hit the DL too.

He's been bad but so has the defense, Uggla, Schafer and BJ Upton. Though at least Schafer's error wasn't costly and due to coming in hard for a throw. I don't know what BJ was doing there. I guess he had no idea where the ball was going.

If BJ is hitting, Schafer is a 4th OFer.

Schafer is regardless of BJ, he's getting paid too much to sit on the bench.

Schafer is a perfect fourth outfielder though.

The official scorers in Atlanta are a joke, they give Simmons errors on plays they shouldn't. Plus anytime there is a close call on a hit they call it an error. They've not given him anything close all year; hard hit balls, balls to outfield that outfielder doesn't even get a glove on, you name it. I am frankly tired of it given how they give others on the Braves hits when it's clearly an error (and not even close).

Is OE Olde English?

Falstaff, I mean Fallfast, was also a good cheapie.

We had some god-forsaken small breweries up here in Minnesota. Schell's re-invented itself and is now considered a decent small-batch company, but it was terrible (and cheap) for years. Hauenstein (another New Ulm, MN, brewery) was terrible. I haven't had a beer in 29+ years, but I can still "taste" a Hauenstein in my mind. The memory is that bad. Milwaukee's Best, Old Milwaukee, Blatz, and Rhinelander were some other cheap regional Minnesota/Wisconsin brews that were cheap and terrible.

Someone mentioned MD 20/20 and we used to float MD 20/20 on top of cheap beer. Two or three 12 ozers and you were pretty much out. Until you had to puke.

Cheap whiskey got me there too. Cream of Kentucky and Old Thompson could knock a guy out.

They're not bad, I bought some really ****ty canadian whiskey. But a 1.75 liter bottle of whiskey contains about 39 shots. Which is a healthy amount. But if you figure that's 40% abv, that's equal to about 5 oz of Franzia, meaning in a 5 liter bottle of Franzia is about the equivalent of 34 shots or so. Though there's in reality a bit higher of abv per Franzia (coming in about about a equivalency of 43.3% (aka the 34 shots would really be like 44 if you slid the remainder over) and it's cheaper than said whiskey.
