Good day. I figured I would start the thread today considering I will be at today's game.

BUpton 8
Simmons 6
Freeman 3
CJohnson 5
Gattis 7
Laird 2
Uggla 4
Terdoslavich 9
Maholm 1

Painful seeing Uggla's name in there. No Justin against a lefty. Paul Maholm.

Phillies Lineup:

Hernandez 8
Rollins 6
Utley 4
Ruf 9
Frandsen 3
Asche 5
Galvis 7
Kratz 2
Hamels 1

As bad as our lineup looks, theirs looks equally as bad. But, Maholm.

Not loving the lineup but what the hey, maybe today is the day Uggla or Bossman starts a tear like they did in the past.

One more point to add, if we win today Phillies and Mets are out of the division race, would love to see that.

Glad to see Joey T in there. Fredi needs to keep him sharp. We can't count on Reed being back for the playoffs. Joey T might be a key guy off the bench.

Uggla should be given at least one game a week off. The more this business of playing him every game goes on the more it hurts the team.

Everybody getting a day off is a reward. Him sucking is a punishment.

They're sticking with him because they're hopeing to see something. If he's still struggly by Sept 16-17, I think a change is made.

Uggla has started every game since coming off the DL. It would be good for him, good for Elliot Johnson, and good for the team if one game a week Johnson started at second.

If something happens where he has to start in the playoffs, I really hope Wren (or someone else competent) makes sure Fredi starts him at Turner Field. He has been our best starting pitcher there.

Agree and I could see him going two or three innings of relief out of the bullpen. But once he makes it through the batting order one time I just lose faith in him. Maybe we can pair him and Beachy up to give us six or seven strong innings. That could be a winning formula for a win.

A bit off-topic, but this is one reason why I hate the unbalanced schedule. Since the Braves didn't even visit Philadelphia until July, it really seems like I'm watching them play there every 2 weeks though I know thats not the case. The same goes for the Miami Marlins playing in Atlanta this year.

Hot and cold team. Both professional sports teams in Atlanta failed embarrassingly today (thanks, Failcons). They each personally made this weekend suck. The Falcons were far from embarrassing, they went on the road in a tough environment and came up three yards short. It's a long season. The good news is their defense seems to be much improved. They played well. I wouldn't worry too much about that loss today. The Braves, on the other hand are a different story, their offense right now just really, really sucks and it's the reason they're losing. I know the lead is still 12 games, but I still can't get 2011 out of my head.

Agreed completely. Only thing that pissed me off with the Falcons was that dropped pass. They'll be a playoff team and hopefully playing their best football when the postseason rolls around.

As for the Braves, you can **** about the bullpen all you want, but this offense is **** right now, and it shows. Not enough guys stepping up. Don't even have much confidence going into Miami this week.

This team's performance (like a lot of other teams) really turns on having a leadoff guy who is getting on base and making things happen. They looked best with Heyward there. And Schafer at times has done a good job setting the table. Without one of those two hitting well, we look pretty ordinary offensively.

As for the pen, I think we'll be ok. Assuming Walden comes back in a week or so and works into his usual form during the last ten games of the season. Without Walden we have an extra inning we have to mix and match and that is going to tax this pen.
