The offense is starting to shape up nicely. Yeah, they have their occasional hiccup where I want to pull every hair out of my head but for the most part we are putting up runs in bunches. Uggla/Johnson are really lengthening the lineup. I have liked what I have seen out of Simmons recently so hopefully that works out.

We can't compete with the All Star Harper and the juggernaut called the Nationals. Then Super Puig and the Dodgers will win the West taking on the Nationals for the pennant. That is what MLB want.

Why would you want a more whinier Skidlee? Seriously? He *****es about everything. I put a sticky for the All Star game and he *****ed about it. You did one here, not one person *****ed about it.

We need Bossman to get hot. Uggla is fine (would like him to hit better) same thing with heyward. While Some guys are underperforming, we now only have one guy massively underperofmring andhe needs to get going.

Bossman can't continually to suck like this. He will get hot along with JH and Owl, this team is really scary when they get it going, but the Nationals and their All Star Harper say we aren't worthy as MLB want them to win.

I have a feeling that both Uptons are going to get hot at the same time and then the Runs are going to come in bunches just like they are now. As long as he have three-four hot hitters at the same time we are going to win a lot of games.

Im not worried about the Nats. Im worried about the Braves. Playing .500 baseball since the 12-1 start. Its not that we are playing hard and just getting beat by better team...or maybe our hot start was just a HUGE fluke. Everyone "tries" to put the ball in play. Not every hitter is created equal.

Most of these guys have proven track records. They are what they are, none are consistent hitters and that's why this offense is so hit or miss.

Heyward has potential to be better....guys like BJ, Justin, and Uggla are going to strikeout a lot. We should have known that when we brought them on board. You can't expect people to change when they have established the type of hitters they are.

A good hitter can guard the plate when he needs to by fouling it off. Plus he sure isn't controlling the outcome standing there like a statue. You are talking about a inch or two off the plate and as an umpire myself it is hard sometime to distinguish the difference in those two inches when a pitch is coming in at 90+ MPH. Plus the umpire doesn't have that fancy box that you see on TV. So you should leave it up to the umpire when the ball is that close. And both of those strike outs were too close to take.

Heyward takes pitches that close all the time. Why doesn't he swing? It's because he knows the strike zone and sees the ball well. If the umpire misses the call then there is nothing you can do about it. More times than not you are going to have more success by waiting for a pitch you can drive than you are "guarding the plate" and swinging at a pitch outside the zone. Chances are you are going to end up hitting it weakly or swinging and missing. I doubt anyone swings with the intention of fouling it off.

Be as it may. I am talking about hitting awareness and Freeman is the only one who would "GUARD" the plate when down 2 strikes. Watch the batters head when they strike out. I rarely see their head down or their swing being cut down to make contact. The are flailing. This is what we mean IQ when you are at bat. Andruw had this issus as well until he learned he can go the other way with authority and Dale Murphy was awesome as soon as he quit pulling everything.

All these players can go the other way with authority and don't do it. I hate to say Harper has better discipline than most our team as we saw he several opposite field homers on outside pitches. Freeman is the only one I see can do that regularly.
