This is the lineup that was posted on my usual source and they're usually pretty accurate. However, just went on Marlins twitter, and sure enough:

Miami Marlins ‏@Marlins 34m

Nate Eovaldi is scratched from today's start due to a tight back. @BFlynn277 will get the nod today, in Eovaldi's place.

Fredi falling in love with Elliot.

I wish Terdoslavich were getting a few more games. He should be spelling Freeman once a week and getting a couple games a week in the outfield. He could be an important bench bat for us in the post-season, especially if Reed Johnson is out.

chance for Uggla and BJ to get going vs some minor league pitching.

Freddy G vs the worst offense in baseball; looks like an even match up to me.

Garcia wears the same uniform number, #50. Not sure if that happens a lot when a guy goes on the 60-day and won't be back, but it seems odd that they'd give it away.

Yea, it almost got through but good job by their second basemen knocking it down (and starting a DP after doing so). Freeman and Gattis being slow gave him more time too.

Great job BJ and Dan...and you wonder why this offense is so inconsistent? We have three outs with Uggla,Bj and the pitcher...should have scored here but no just the typical strike out with men on for BJ and Dan, what's new? This is f'ing terrible...

Braves1976

Uggla is as bad as it gets with RISP, Uggla and BJ back-to-back is like old times too. Joey T should be starting today and EJ should be at his best position (second base), IMO. Oh well.

First and second, no outs for Uggla, Upton, Garcia. If we sac bunt with Uggla, maybe just tell Upton and Garcia to stand there and hope for a walk or wild pitch.

Lol @ our three 'pitchers' hitting in a row. Uggla, BJ, (p). Awesome. I hope to g-d that Freddi dosen't play either of those jokers in the playoffs. And if he does, he better not play both at the same time. Can't afford to give up 9 autmoatic outs a game.

Teheran_49

I say we bench BJ and Dan for the rest of the season and hope they become disgruntled and want to get traded/released. We can then proceed to tell ok we will release/trade you but you will owe us half of what you are making because no one will take you at the price you are paid for your production. I just can't take this anymore...of course most of you on this board will come to BJ and Dan's rescue but these guys are terrible and some one in AAA who makes league minimum can produce as much as they are producing. It's ridiculous....

Braves1976

I'm afraid we may have to do what we did with Lowe (or even KK) to get rid of Uggla now. He looks even worse since coming back.

Yogi44
09-12-2013, 12:12 PM
Just ran some numbers. Combine BJ & Uggla make $26,196,942 this year. At this moment they have 147 hits between them. That comes to a cost of $17,8210.49 per hit. They've done well, the Braves have suffered.

Failure.

Exactly, Failure has an OPS now higher than Mac's and Justin Upton's. He also has as many homers as Mac and more RBI's in less games and AB's too. If that's a failure gimme some more of it!

Good point, Gattis has been huge this year. He's had a lot of big hits off the bench late too. This team has had a number of players step up at the right time. The bench has been great, esp. when Pena was still healthy.

Garcia only gave up one thanks to Simmons great range. Then again CJ's lack of range hurt him on the first run too. Regardless, Garcia could fall apart at anytime so no lead is safe.

tululush
09-12-2013, 12:50 PM
Likewise. I'd like to believe that the longer they continue to play like **** the sooner they will be permanently removed from the starting lineup. But then again between the money and the moron at the helm we may be stuck playing them regardless. I just wish Wren and Fredi would understand the concept of a sunk cost. More so with Uggla than BJ. I just wish they'd realize the money is gone regardless if they play or not so you might as well play the best player possible.

Mets need to win today to have a real shot, otherwise we'd have to sweep and Philly would too. I don't see that happening. Plus more likely we clinch it in DC either way, IMO.

Magic number at 6. If we play like we're supposed to against San Diego, and the Phillies are worth a damn against the Nats, we've got a shot to clinch this weekend.

I'm really excited what we will see from Hale tomorrow!
Hope he can go 6 innings!
I like the strategy to pull starters back, but if we need our relievers from the 5th inning on, it's not good for our overworked bullpen.

Would be nice, but it'll be tough. They've been playing well.

They will not win today, because of their horrible base-running!

Either is fine, but I rather not need more than a win in DC to do so. That way Nats don't have a shot at pushing our clinch to just after the DC series.

Harang is a bad pitcher, Nats should beat him.

Mets need to win today to have a shot to clinch this weekend. Assuming the Nats win, it will be 6 heading into the weekend, and looking at the matchups for Phi/Wsh, best shot is Saturday when Hamels goes. Likely lose the other two.

Of course, give up a HR, now Nats take the lead. Mets are useless against anyone but the Braves.

We avoid Gio and Zimmerman which is a break unless something happens to either of them.

Looks like we will throw Maholm/Hale, Wood, and Minor.

One day soon, I'm gonna sit down and go through every single game and figure out how many times Simmons has popped up. Has to be close to 200.

He has hit an infield fly 17.5 percent of the time which is roughly 1/6th of his at bats. Assuming he finishes with 600 at bats that's 100 infield flies. Its actually the same rate he hit them last year although he has nearly doubled his fly ball rate. He is tied for ML lead with Jose Bautista and right behind him is Ichiro.

The only chance of that is if the Mets win, not happening.

And down to 5 heading to this weekend.

At best, the Phillies win one, it would still be at 1 heading into DC either way hypothetically.

That's why I said if we play like we're supposed to (we should sweep), and the Phillies are useful. I think we'll wrap it up in DC or Chicago next weekend.

Actually, that's 17.5% of his fly balls that are infield fly balls. His fly ball rate is 37.8%, so his overall % in terms of ABs is 6.6%. So given 600 ABs, he'd hit about 39-40 pop ups.

bravesnumberone

I refuse to believe that. He has to have popped up in the infield/shallow outfield way more than 40 times?

cajunrevenge

I wonder what standard they use for an infield fly. Is it the actual infield or Sam Holbrook's idea of am infield fly. But it has to be more than 40 if they just go by popups caught ny infielders.

Yea, thanks for nothing Mets. No clinching at home for us, but if we sweep at home we'll just need one in DC to clinch (so long as Philly wins at least one game vs Nats this weekend). Best case is magic number is no worse than two headed to D.C.

Its really just a formality at this point. We would have to go 5-11 and the nats go 16-0 to win the division.

I don't think anyone in their right mind could be concerned about blowing it this late with our lead. But I can understand concern with wanting to clinch either at home or in D.C. rather than in Chicago.

If not for that streak, we would've had a good shot at eliminating them from the WC. Too bad.

With how far back they are from us a sweep would virtually eliminate them. 2/3 would be devastating. So we can still crush their spirits. Even if we dont technically eliminate them they are 8 games under .500 against us and 5.5 games back of the wild card, we are very likely to be the reason they dont make the playoffs. If they just split the games with the Braves they would be 1-2 games out right now. The only team I think they could catch are the Reds who they are 5 back in the loss column. The Pirates/Cards are 8 games ahead in the loss column. I dont know what would make me happier if the Braves swept them to crush their dreams or if they actually made it to the 1 game playoff and lost.
