Figured this would be a good place to discuss this. All last year and during the offseason we heard about how Freddie hit well due to Kemp's presence in the lineup. Well here is 2017 numbers.

Without Kemp: 42 PA's 545/43/1212 - 1855 OPS with 6 homers
With Kemp: 35 PA's 200/314/314 - 628 OPS with 1 homer

Seems to me Freddie is 3 times the hitter when Kemp is out of the lineup. This should reflect on his WAR somehow.

What is little understood is that KeMVP Protection works even from the DL. It even started working its magic while he was in San Diego. It is a sort of all-encompassing explanation for Freddie's surge.

The record with Kemp in the lineup is dreadful... I believe we are 1-8 with him

Identical to the Celtics without Larry Bird in one of his MVP seasons.

So Kemp is the anti-Bird? Matt Drib?

Kemp is Bird in his prime. Makes everyone around him better.
