Yenci Pena called up from DSL to GCL. He was a $1 million guy last year. His DSL numbers -- .230/.328/.327. 31 K and 24 BB in 165 ABs.

Love the K and BB rates, and he's 6'2", already showing some light pop. Intriguing.

Better to just stop paying attention. He's no longer a prospect.

I don't think anyone's "down" on Allard. I just think Soroka and Gohara have surpassed him. That doesn't mean he's a bad prospect at all. He's still an elite prospect.

I think we really found something in Lugbauer. I don't know if his future is at catcher or not, but he looks to be a fast riser.

Between him and Contreras, I think we have our long term catcher there somewhere.

Hope Albers is brought up in September especially if Teheran needs to be rested.

The Braves could deal from strength for sure. Contreras, Gutierrez, Herbert and Jackson are my favorites for different reasons. Cumberland was serviceable the seven times I saw him,,,love his bat. Lugbauer is not a catcher from what I saw. He's got time I think.

If Allard was in high A he would be dominating with a high k rate. Don't penalize Allard for being good but not great when he skipped a level.

I still have hope for him. I bet he eventually makes the majors and finds a role. Probably will be with another team.

An inconvenient truth: Matt Lipka was just named Player of the Month, so the case that we gave up on him too early is valid. Davidson has (or had) much bigger upside when drafted. And Davidson is only 21, so there's no reason at all to pull the plug on him -- unless 139 strikeouts in 95 games bothers you.

Braves gave up on Lipka at age 24. At 25, he began at AA, went down to the Carolina League and caught fire and has just played his first game in AAA (this year; he played over 50 games at Gwinnett in 2016).

a Guy doing well in A+ ball at age 25 is not a ringing endorsement. especially when that guy also failed miserable at higher levels already.

Could be 3B/1B and emergency catcher potentially. They are playing him at all three. Not sure how his defense is at any of those spots, but seems like his bat might play.

Lipka is never going to be anything of substance. We did not give up on him too early.
