You are too funny. I honestly thought the same thing when I first read Zito's thread.

Brilliant!

The obvious answer is Kim Jung Il anyone arguing otherwise is a moron.

Ho Chi Minh is actually one guy that, if you mention his name around any middle-aged to elderly Vietnamese person in America you may get assaulted for speaking his name.

They really really really really really hate him. You mention "Ho Chi Minh City" and you may as well write your death sentence... they only acknowledge it still as Saigon.

We should stick to non-fiction. Don't want this to turn into a religious discussion.

You guys are thinking small potatoes. And just going for cruel dictators.

Kim Jung Il was impressively cruel, but also was bat **** insane and stuck around for ages. Some fun **** about Kim Jung Il

Kim Jong-Il coached the 2010 Korean World Cup soccer team with an invisible phone, Kim Jong-Il once attempted to ship all the short people out of North Korea, In 1978, Kim Jong-Il kidnapped director Shin Sang-ok and forced him to make a “socialist Godzilla” film, has a title of "Dear Leader, who is a perfect incarnation of the appearance that a leader should have", Kim Jong-Il is a heavy drinker, reportedly spending spending about up to $800,000 a year on Hennessy cognac, When he was forced to give up cigarettes for health reasons, Kim Jong-Il forced the entire country to do the same , he could control the weather, he does not poop, and most importantly, he invented hamburgers.

Yes I stole a bunch of those off Buzzfeed, but **** I'm lazy.

Kim Jung Il barely deserves true dictator respect. Like his son Kim Jung-un, he inherited his title, along with a beaten-down, brainwashed country. He was given an unquestioning military on a platter, ready to carry out every sadistic idea that came into his head.

Stalin gets my vote. He rose to power on his own guts and guile and he defeated Hitler, another self-made despot.

Hitler all the way. Unlike Stalin, hitler didn't initially have a massive army at his disposal. Hitler built his army up.
Every kid plays army and dreams about conquering the world and Hitlers the only one who basically had the balls to try it and pull it off.

Stalin was more evil and treated his people worse than Hitler did, but Stalin only took over defenseless, defeated countries after ww2. Hitler initially did all the work. Stalin just moved in and set up shop after the Nazis were gone

How one comes to power shouldn't be the sole determination or the sole disqualifier. While Kim Jung Il became a dictator by inheritance he did way more fun **** with his title. Stalin Rose to power by being a great general. If it wasn't for Trotsky, Stalin would have been small potatoes. Opposition to Lenin from Trotsky and co led to Stalin getting more power from Lenin.

Napoléon Bonaparte? Alexander III of Macedon? Chandragupta Maurya? Any of several Achaemenids? Or, hell: Imperator Gaius Julius Divi Filius Caesar Octavianus Augustus?

The Britains had the largest land Empire in history.

Cyrus I think is thte most impressive though, the empire he started oversaw like 44% of the world's population or something.

Kim Jung Il was a sadistic little pimple of a human being. He could've never risen to power anywhere but in N Korea.

Yep: in my rush to include dark-horse Chandragupta Maurya, I neglected to even mention the several worthy Khans — with Temujin probably having the most ambition, though not the most territory. (He's also the only one of these fellows ever portrayed by John Wayne.)

LOL. I'll bet he ate a few cheeseburgers in his time but so have I.

He supposedly shot 38 under par on 18 holes too. That only shows the massive inferior complex he must've had.
