disappointed that scrimp isn't in there today. I really wanted to see how awful he is.

They say he can crush-taceans the ball when he makes contact, but he seems to be a shell of himself now.

I was gonna say he's gonna come out of his shell when the regular season starts...he should fit in with a bottom dwelling team

Looks like it is Phillips in center not Acuna according to the Pirates broadcast

Swanson took 2 fastballs over the inside corner. If he’s going to struggle with sliders away he has to punish those fastballs.

He then took a bad swing on a slider away to hit a weak fly to CF.

Cancel that, it is Acuna

Acuna swing through a fastball right down the middle, then gets clipped by a pitch.

Camargo smoked 2 balls foul, and laid off pitches out of the zone. One was a decent back foot slider he didn’t offer at. Fouled out trying to protect vs a down and in slider.

Same old Folty, scattershot at 95.

Asoonya... he can fly

Enscheff
03-10-2018, 01:58 PM
Acuna swings through fastball away, swings through fastball down the middle, fouls off fastball up, lays off slider in the dirt, fouls off hanging slider, fouls off fastball down the middle, fouls off fastball down the middle, fouls off good fastball low and away, takes fastball up and in for the walk.

That was an encouraging AB. The pitcher had him off balance pretty much the whole AB, but Acunas hit tool is too good to put him away.

Camargo fly ball the other way to LF, and the OFer Kemped it.

Folty wasn’t sharp, specifically with offspeed location, but good enough to handle the Pirates B team for 4 innings.

My knock on Folty is that he’s still scatter shot with everything. Maybe that hint of wildness contributes to his success though.

Carle in. I’m a little bummed we won’t get to see Gomez or Graham.

That’s the 2nd poor throw from Albies saved by Ruiz. The knock on Albies at SS was always his accuracy.

Carle at 95 with a change at 87 that looks usable.

Why was Franco scratched? I think he could be a better bench player than Ruiz

DPete annihilates a hanging slider.

I don't think Peterson profiles as a true power hitter, but if he can get back to where he was in Mississippi in 2016 in terms of XBH, he could contribute as someone who hits LHP well (>.800 OPS against LHP in 2016 and 2017). Problem is he looks to be relegated to playing the corner OF positions (and mostly LF) and that kind of position inflexibility really hurts his chances as a bench guy (and I don't know if he's ever going to hit enough to be an everyday guy). He did start out as a 3B in the Padres' system, so maybe they should let him kick it around the corner IF positions to see if he's at least playable there.

I know it's ST but the rotation looks really solid. Folty especially is doing a great job of throwing strikes and keeping his head in check. Teheran has been really good, too.

One o the reasons I think we win around 86 games. We have loads of pitching.

Freddie ambushes first-pitches as well and it doesn't stop him from being good. I think he'll continue to be good in that department.

Albies is such a beast.
I've championed him forever. He's always been more impressive to me than Dansby. As for his throwing, he's always rushed or made care free throws but he's improved so much since I first saw him.

Freddie has also shown he can handle the rest that pitchers give him too. This isn't to say Albies will stop being good without first pitch fastballs but it will be something other teams will notice and switch up on him to see how he handles it. And I have no doubt he will.

Enscheff

Seigrist is a soft tossing LHP.

Acuna takes fastball in, check swing fouls off change away, takes fastball up, foul tips fastball in, fouls off breaking ball away breaking into him from LHP, takes non competitive curve in the dirt, hammers fastball off the CF wall.

This pitcher doesn’t have the tools to handle Acuna.

Minter showing the FA at 93 and the hard slutter at 88-90. Both are a few ticks below what he showed last year.

He was 96.5 with the FA and 90.5 with the slutter in 2017.

Something to monitor as ST progresses, but the LHers stood no chance against him today.

I still think Peterson will be an average outfielder or a great guy off the bench. With his injury behind him...he should take up where he left off in 2016.

We are going to have so many options going forward. I don’t think we will be all that great at the beginning of the year, but this team could “possibly” be pretty dang good by the end of the year.
