Pache at Florida?

This is the year of pache, Riley, and allard (reaching here, but I’m going anti-consensus)

Looks like both are on, but Rome may start too early for me to catch Muller.

I can’t wait to be at Trustmark tonight watching Wright pitch. Looks like another strong group of pitchers on the roster for the M Braves. Outside of Riley and Jackson the position players look blah. Seems like Conner Lien and Jason Hursh have been on the roster 5 years

One interesting tidbit. Demerritte is listed on the roster as an outfielder. Are they trying to convert him to a utility player. I think trying him in the outfield is a great idea.

Yeah, TD has always made the most sense to me as a Super Utility guy that can capably defend most positions and hit bombs, but likely will never have the approach to be an every day player.

Edit: To be clear, if his bat develops enough to even make it to the Majors, which isn't the case so far.

I think the switch to outfield shows the Braves are still confident he can develop. He appears blocked out of the infield.
In my opinion TDs problems are often due to his approach at the plate. Last year I thought he looked uncomfortable. The right hitting coach could probably do wonders with him. He was unlucky at the plate too. I’m sure his BABIP was lower last year than you would expect from a guy that hits the ball as hard as he does.

I watched a lot of Rome. A few thoughts -

Muller had 5 Ks, 6 ground outs and 0 fly ball outs. The Juan Soto bomb was impressive, but Muller came back and struck him out next at bat. Pretty encouraging first start for Muller. Wish his velo was higher than the 89-91 (89-93 in the first) that twitter says.

I didn’t realize how raw Jean Carlos Encarnacion is. You’ll see 2-3 in the box score, but one was an infield single and the other was a broken bat ground ball that hugged the line and went for a double. He swings at a ton. His approach is a long ways away from making me optimistic about him. He also looked extremely uncomfortable throwing the ball to first. He had two throwing errors and looked like he was really hesitant to cut it loose.

Waters is fun. Watching him run on the triple was impressive. He swung at a lot of bad offspeed pitches in the dirt, which I think was reported to have hurt him in Danville last year. That’ll be something to monitor.

The ball really jumps off Ramos’ bat. Loud fly out to left and a double to right that looked easy.

I missed most of Izzy Wilson’s at bats, including the triple. Looked like a good night for him. He got hit by a pitch in the one AB I saw, and it was really scary. Got him on the left arm and he was in a lot of pain but stayed in.

I have no idea why Thomas Burrows is still in Rome. He’s way too good for that level.

Riley doubles 1-3

His double literally went as far as a ball can go in left center at Trustmark and not be a HR. Missed clearing the fence by maybe 3 feet. Looked like a HR coming off the bat.

Nom nom nom... That is Trustmark eating home runs for dinner. Its a pitcher's park if there has ever been one.

Gattis didn't have trouble clearing the fence there. But he has a special kind of power.

There's going to be a swarm of talent hitting the majors the next 3 years. Might have a 2-3 year lull after that but the sheer amount on young talent will get us through it

For me, Dustin Peterson is the guy to watch this season.

Guys like Soroka and Pache, I think they are already on their way to being big league contributors. It would be great if a marginal prospect took a big step forward and Peterson is my top candidate for that.

Interesting choice. He has always been rumored to be pretty fine with the bat and had some pop but injuries have always kept him from his ceiling it seems. He would make a good 4th OF or backup 1B for a team I'd think. Just gotta have a clean year and I'm optimistic he will show some something.
