For the first time ever someone ditches the moronic and cumbersome brick chargers and simply charge your laptop with a MicroUSB charger. Freaking Brilliant.

HP can take my money

$279 seems like a good price. I only have a laptop, not exactly sure if i would need something like this. I'm honestly ask, why would I want one if I have a laptop?

you're going to buy a laptop cause of the charger?

Why even buy a laptop?
What can that really do that a tablet can't?

Not the only reason but it's a big selling point.

Full web browsing on a larger screen. I may wait til they hopefully update the 14 and see if it runs on MicroUSB as well.

Not to mention if you do even a decent amount of email or word processing it's much easier and faster to use a laptop. Also way easier to jerk it to porn in bed. Wait what just happened.

The Laptop will have more memory but google docs and google play and all that other crap are on google tablets and I imagine the tablet gets more than 'six' hours.

If someone is a programmer, web designer, records music, etc I see the need for a PC or a nice MacBook Pro But why does anyone need a laptop? What can you do on this laptop that u can't really do on a google tablet? Other than play games like minecraft.

I was under the assumption Zito had a tablet since we've argued about electronics for years. If he doesn't i apologize, but if someone has a tablet wtf would you need a laptop for?

They basically serve the same functions for 95% of ordinary folks

I have a tablet and a laptop and i use the laptop over the tablet about 90/10. A tablet does most of what I want a laptop to do but doesn't do it nearly as well. And there are things you can't do on a tablet (regular hulu) that I do on the laptop.

So what do I get with this vs a comparable tablet? Lower cost, better more vast internet, faster typing by a mile, and if I really wanted to with some light hacking I could throw on Linux and use it as a full computer with a slave HD something that you can't do with a tablet. So the funcitonal cost is much lower.

Honestly if I had this latptop instead of a my current beast of one I'd probably favor my laptop 95/5 over my tablet. I like tablets, but I think they're more toys than replacements for computers. Even with a keyboard dock I can't use a tablet the same way I use my laptop for many things. I used my tablet as a way to do things I can't do with a smartphone more than a laptop replacement.

Maybe for Joe Everyman who does everything by the book and doesn't mind the inconvenience of apps and missing content from some providers can use a tablet as a laptop replacement. But I can't.

Ok, but how long does it take to charge, and what is its battery life?

haven't heard on charge time yet, but battery life is about 6 hours, but that's laptop time so I'll presume about 5 or so. Charging will probably take a very long time, but my dead Dell is basically tethered to a charger and I actually have 10 microusb chargers in my house so I'm not overly concerned.

My guess is that it will come with a higher amp charger in the box that it won't take too long to get to a full charge but your normal cell phone charger will take much longer.

The other laptop I'm digging and when they release more info I may switch is the SOL Laptop, I'm just slightly concerned cause much of my laptoping is done at night and I'd like a charging option if I don't have the power of the sun.

If I am buying an HP laptop, it would be one of their Elitebook Folio 13's. We have some at work for our VP's and they are quite nice.
