Correct about his dad, and yeah I heard he bought a place up between Caney and Atoka, OK, around 30-40 minutes from where I went to HS. I actually had a cousin who lived close to there, like 10-15 minutes or so. I never asked her about it so I don't know if she was aware of it or not.

I have no preference when it involves Shinedown, but as I understand it they're more of a hard rock band, so why would you compare them to the Foos? Foos are much more grungy than them.

One of the coolest Enter Sandman covers I've seen. Best part is for Kirk's solo, the dude kills it on a violin.
I'm not a huge Zac Brown Band fan but they do some nice covers, like a live medley of The Joker and Caress Me Down which is pretty damn awesome.

Nice, just watched that Unplugged video the other day and was gonna post it in here. Best AIC song, hands down.
I will have to disagree with you. First I think my favorite song off Unplugged is Brother. I love Nutshell, don't get me wrong (or Got Me Wrong if you will:icwudt:) it was one of the first songs I taught myself on guitar, love it. But it's probably not even in my top 10 songs.
1. Down in a Hole
2. Heaven Beside You
3. Would?
4. No Excuses
5. Don't Follow
6. Your Decision
7. Man in the Box (ok maybe that should be higher, I've just heard it too much lately)
8. Angry Chair
9. Rooster
10. Rain When I Die
Ok there may be more than 10 I like more than Nutshell. Cause I'm just now remembering, Junkhead, Godsmack, I Stay Away, Over Now, Brother and Got Me Wrong which I consider at worst on par. There also will always be a special place in my heart for Love Song. It's such a bad song because it's obviously supposed to be bad. But something about Sean Kinney yelling into a megaphone is pretty awesome.

True Bleed the Freak rocks. I like Check My Brain but it's probably 4th or 3rd favorite song. For sure like Your Decision and Black Gives Way to BLue more. Then it's between that and Lesson Learned fighting for 3rd.
I love most of their unplugged stuff, but they're not always my favorites.

Yeah I got into Metallica probably later than you so I don't think their newer songs are as terrible as you might. For the most part I like Load and Reload...which I'm guessing you don't.
I think their covers of Whiskey in the Jar, Die Die My Darling and Sabbra Cadabra are all pretty awesome. That little bit of A National Acrobat they throw into Sabbra Cadabra is the ****.

Their cover of Whiskey in the Jar is basically exactly the same as Thin Lizzy's nothing creative about it. Except that James Hetfield can't sing.
Load and Reload are terrible. They don't belong in the same stratosphere as RIde the Lightning or Master of Puppets.

It's gotten such positive feedback on it I think he would do it stateside. That being said when you've released nearly 20 albums you don't have to do covers. Rush never does covers. Even PEarl Jam limits their covers.

I know this isn't Bruce song of the day, but I have to marvel that he didn't release or play this song for 30 years, but turned it loose on The Promise and was amazed when his European crowd jumped right in. Just one more case that The Boss' throwaways would be someone else's hit.

Styx meets Metallica (to my ears, anyway)
Here's a change of pace but a remarkable song. Band Circle II Circle is a direct offspring of Trans-Siberian Orchestra, especially the vocalist, Zak Stephens. Jon Oliva of TSO is on piano and Matt LaPorte is playing the unforgettable guitar. This was recorded in 2003, LaPorte died in 2011 of sleep apnea at the age of 40. So glad this was something he left behind...

Not a huge bruce fan, just the hits please. Not a great voice, but a great performer. My step brother is a huge fan and his wife got them tickets to a show, he was one of the lucky ones a Springsteen rep found and moved up from the back of the venue to the very front. Apparently he does this for the people that bought the nosebleeds sometimes.

The hits are out there, even though he plays relatively few of them in any one concert. First, let me put this challenge to you: here is a song Bruce wrote, but his version has never surfaced and he's never played it with E Street. But his version exists, because Rockabilly legend Sonny Burgess heard it and asked Bruce if he could record it. He did, and here's Bruce joining him in concert. What I'm asking is this: doesn't this song sound like a hit in some genre? Springsteen's trash are other people's treasures.

I don't recall when I first heard that cover. But to me it's one of those covers that spoils anyone else's shot of covering a song and overshadows the original in the eyes of pretty much everyone. Such as All Along the Watchtower covered by Hendrix, I Fought the Law covered by the Clash, Jersey Girl covered by the Boss, Black Magic Woman by Santana, or Hurt by Cash. I know Hallelujah is like the most covered songs and others have released versions afterwards (with Rufus Wainwright's being the most notable) but JMO BUckley's version eclipses the others in so many ways.

Here's a Springsteen hit, but ... This was the first song on the first performance Bruce and E Street ever did overseas (London). Bruce recalls that the band arrangement wasn't there yet, so it was just he, Roy and Danny on stage. To me, this version is the one that captures the song in all its epic glory, before it became a sing-a-long and/or a cliche. Year was 1975, same year I graduated from high school, but I didn't hear this until a version came out on the Live CD.

Wanted so badly to go to Springsteen show in ATL Saturday night. Ended with Highway to Hell, but since we posted his first time playing it, we won't be redundant. Haven't found any great video from show yet, so instead here is video for new EP American Beauty, the title cut. He recorded this in Charlotte on the 19th before the show. Video seems to confirm Morello is an E Streeter in good standing, but this marginal song, given the full E Street treatment here, still rocks. Love Nils doing the slide guitar.

How the hell these guys failed to make it bigtime worldwide I don't understand. But the Brewsters are still keeping The Angels alive (new album this year). This was 1979 when they were hitting their stride. This is the other cut that Great White covered. But Neeson owns. Doc 1947-2014.

Without question, this is one of Billy Joel's (and anybody's) great love songs. And I have never, ever heard it on the radio. Not once.

And doesn't Billy look YOUNG?

He has been brilliant for over 20 years. Not a lot of performers can hope to make that claim. Thanks.

I miss when JBJ could really belt it out. He just doesn't have it in the tank anymore.

Even those of you who are tiredd of all my Springsteen will like this. Don't often see and hear the Big Man at the top of his game. Would this be the best Springsteen song that never made it to a regular LP?

TO me, this rivals Clapton's stripped-down "Layla,"
Those who only wanted the Boss' hits, this is tasty.

Had to add this. What do you do when you have a great song, need a video and no band to film. You do THIS.

This is a 3 part post. First is the example of a brilliant use of a sample, second is a super corny use of a sample (aka Sample of the Sample) and the last the Orignal. Gonna do this twice.
