I think he was trying to post the BiLe thread on another forum and forgot he was already home.

I think he was on the verge of a perfect troll, but lost it in the 9th inning.

In all seriousness though, we are seeing Markakis being the same Markakis is has been the last 3 years...with one insane hot streak:

Monthly wRC+

March/Apr 139
May 150
June 114
July 137

While that 114 is a pretty normal month for him in a vacuum (though well above average for him since 2012), the fact he hasn't had a below average month through 1/2 of the season is somewhat remarkable in itself.

Even if you remove that hot streak -- seems like he's been better this year than previous seasons by sustaining his best performance.

So...your point is?

What do you project for Markakis RoS and 2019+?

Listen, funny things happen in contract years. I'd prefer we not fall into this trap like many others have. Who knows what it is, if players work harder in the off season prior to contract year, focus more during that season, but they want to extend their career whatever the case may be. It's human nature to not put in as much effort once you've signed a big deal.

I'm just pointing out that even if you remove the hot streak he's been better this year than the last five.

What does that mean for next year? The safest thing would probably be to project him in the 95-105 wRC+ range he's inhabited for years.

But if his worst month this season is 114 there is some chance he's going to do better. But we haven't finished the year to see how that plays out even for this year.

Depending on the Braves offseason plans, I'm not going to be horrified if they bring him back on a 1 and 1 or a bargain 2 year deal.
