Reportedly wants 15 million more from A's or he'll enter nfl draft. Can the A's even do this? Wouldn't it be the same as going too much over slot?

Reading now that the A's may offer him a major league contract, and that MLB looks like they'll let them since they cant find any evidence it was discussed or being deliberated when they drafted him

Since he signed the initial contract, wouldn't the A's keep his rights even if he went to the NFL?

If so, they should wait him out. It shouldn't take more than a couple of years to figure out that 5'8" QBs don't have much of a future in the NFL. Murray will get picked highly and get paid accordingly, and will be out of the NFL within 2-3 years, hopefully with his health intact.

Yes. The Yankees for example currently have the baseball rights to Russell Wilson.

Really stupid draft pick by the A's, especially at #9. One could see this coming a galaxy away.

Well he could get hurt for one. But more importantly, he will have missed a pretty significant amount of development time, putting him on a pace to reach the majors by age 26-27 at the earliest. Letting him go to the NFL over an extra 10 million or so is not very smart.

Assuming he gets there at all
