No one weighing on on yesterdays elections.

Va Governorship the NYC Mayoral - Alabama 1st Congressional.
Lots of legalizations and many many *** rights votes. And,
Lot of issues to each ....

oh yeah, something or other in NJ

Yep my state (VA) just elected a buffoon because people actually base their votes on abortion - as if the law will ever change.

Cuccinelli made it closer than expected. RNC decided not to spend much money on that one and they lost because of it.

I liked Cuccinelli. He was one of the lawyers that led the charge in the case against Obamacare in the supreme court. He doesn't have a great personality so it's tough to win when you don't have that. Very smart though.

There are two big lessons from Virginia. Abortion matters. Twenty percent of voters said it was their top issue, and they broke overwhelmingly for McAuliffe. And African American voters continue to be the most reliable pillar of the Democratic base. Black voter turnout was identical to 2012, chastening people who suggest the Democrats won’t do as well without Obama’s name on the ballot. Where McAuliffe lost white voters 56-36 to Cuccinelli, he won 9 of 10 black voters.

Cucinelli ( and to be fair McDonald ) took what was a 17 point victory in 2009 and turned it into a 3-5% loss. Where I learned addn and ractin that is a 20 point swing. Made it closer?? Than if it was a 25-30 point swing !!

I'm going to do something I rarely do. I'm going to talk some politics!

I live in the 1st congressional district in Alabama. What we had was a Republican runoff election, with the winner going to a general election next month. This to replace Jo Bonner, who retired earlier this year to take a job at the University of Alabama. Bonner was one of those rare congressmen who was actually pretty popular in his district.

This was an interesting runoff from the standpoint you had the "establishment" candidate in Bradley Byrne facing Dean Young, who was an unapologetic member of the Tea Party. Byrne was a former state senator and ran the state's two year college system and by all accounts, did a rather good job in that. Young is a businessman who ran for congress before and lost. This thing got heated about three weeks ago when Byrne put out an ad alleging Young took money from a PAC that he ran and used it to pay one of his businesses. Young threw a fit and publicly demanded Byrne to take that ad down and apologize. Byrne did neither. Pretty clear at that point these two guys could not stand each other.

I wound up casting my ballot for Bradley Byrne yesterday. Byrne wound up winning 52-48%. I was glad I voted that way. In his victory speech, Byrne said he looked forward to working with Young to bring the Republicans together (which any candidate who wins a primary/runoff will say anyway). Young was not so nice. He said that he could not bring himself to voting for Byrne and would not even call him to concede the election. Dean Young came across as a petty, sore loser last night. Glad he lost. Don't need a guy like that representing us.

Wasn't the dem in VA projected to win by 12-15 points a few weeks ago?

NYC, good luck with you communist mayor.

I'm just glad the casino amendment passed in NY. That's really all that got me out to the polling place last night

It's pretty cool.

I have to admit I have been fascinated by the De Blasio campaign.

Bloomberg appears to have been on suicide watch the past few months.

That picture is priceless.

I don't think that either of the last two mayors of NY really thought they were going to have to give up the job.

I'm stunned that Terry ****ing McAuliffe is a governor. That's about all I got right now.

And the whole commie mayor of NYC thing. I did find it rather hilarious that he was wearing a red tie the other night in his victory speech.
