Cause we can't sign Bud Norris and Kimbrel.

Just looked at Jackson's fangraphs page... how in the world did he go from 5.86 k9 (50.2 ip) in 2017 to 10.18 k9 (40.2 ip) in 2018? Not wanting to keep him, but that's quite a jump.

Cuz he threw the slider a lot more last season. Resulting in an increase in both walks and strikeouts. Basically Jackson is only effective if the hitter chases. Bud Norris is tougher, meaner, stronger.

I'll take Bud all day for a reasonable price.

Norris was cut by the jays. Personally, I don't want either.

Bud Norris is somewhat like Anibal Sanchez in that he developed the cutter relatively late in his career and it gave him a pitch he could throw inside to opposite handed hitters. A lot of pitchers have had late career resurgences due to the cutter.

No one wanted Anibal.

I think the chances are pretty good Bud would do a better job than Luke this season.

So why don't the jays want him?

After the Pillar trade the Jays wanted to keep him in extended spring training but Norris felt like he was ready to pitch. So they split.

Norris is currently nursing forearm stiffness (Hey, get a girlfriend!) and that apparently contributed to his being released by the Blue Jays. I think there was an major league activation deadline in the minor league contract Norris signed. I say give him a look.

Luke keeps getting chances because his 95.5 mph FA has 11.1" of rise (Grade 70), his 88.3 mph SL has 2.9" of drop (Grade 70), and his CU has 9.1" of drop (Grade 70+).

He's cheap, and the stuff is there to be a high K pitcher. His FIP/xFIP last year were 3.55/3.94, essentially due to his 4.65 BB/9.

No doubt the Braves see the stuff and are hoping the command improves. How long do they wait on a 27 year old to improve his command?

That's it in a nutshell. The ghost of Tyler Yates. If the Braves let Jackson go at some point, a different pitching coach will lobby for him to be snapped up because there's always someone out there who believes that under their tutelage the flaws can be erased and the appreciable tools and raw material will flourish.

I believe we DFAed Jackson last year and there were no takers

he's cleared waivers three or four times hasn't he? Not sure there is great demand.

He'd have no trouble finding a job.

Was left unprotected for Rule 5 draft too wasn't he?

It seems like he is with the org than thinks the most of him.

No doubt the pitchFx data tells the story on guys.

Does anyone know how long the teams have had this kind of data?

You're only 1% of the way there to how many times I've been wrong.
