Mahki Backstrom's first pro homer just happened.

Vaughn Grissom went 2-3 with a walk in game one. Promote him and Michael Harris to Danville, please.

Harris I get—he’s only 18, but he’s performing very well—but what about Grissom’s solid-but-unspectacular .770 OPS makes you think he needs to be in Danville?

Thinking Davidson could look good in this pen in about 3 weeks.

Starting to feel like we are going to see Anderson/Davidson before the season is out. Its still in the teams best interest to rest Soroka/Fried over the next 2 months.

Try them out and see if they become a potential difference maker in a shot series out of the pen.

Unless they skip Bryce Ball all the way up to AA.

All is well as long as the Notorious RPD remains.

I'd just as soon leave all the GCL guys where they are and shuffle them into the Instructional League after the season.

Fun fact: Pache has nearly 1700 MiLB PAs, and only 8 of them came against pitchers younger than him.

We said this about Ozzie as well. I don’t think he ever hit against a younger pitcher. It’s encouraging as hell

The AAA team now seems ridiculously loaded, while anxiously awaiting Riley for the stretch run.

Big chunk of the hole in the Braves farm has perhaps now moved from Rome to Mississippi.

That is a fun fact indeed. I probably have hyped him up a lot along the way, but it's good to see him project to be above average as a player in the majors. Happy for him and all the other players promoted. It's going be fun watching that Gwinnett team.

I’d imagine Drew is in the same boat.

Fun Fact:

We need some of these guys at the lower levels to develop their asses off

Tucker is really turning into a legit rotation prospect who should probably be breaking into top 100 lists

Looks like Gwinnett is adding Duda for the stretch run as well. Giddy up.

Huh, no Tuesday Minors thread. Kinda sad since it was such a big day in the minors.

Pache goes 2-5, and Waters betters him by going 3-5.

Anderson got lit up a bit in his AAA debut.

Not much else matters.

The K’s where there for Anderson. The other stuff doesn’t mean anything to me for a pitchers debut.

yeah he seems to struggle at the start of a season/new level and then turns it on

yeah he seems to struggle at the start of a season/new level and then turns it on

so maybe he should skip a level and go straight to the majors

Maybe, but 4 BBs in 3 IP gives ammo to the "he's striking out impatient AA hitters" crowd.

I did mention to you when I watched his highlight vids he got a lot of K's on hitters swinging at pitches out of the zone that ML caliber hitters will foul off over and over making him throw more stress pitches.

I don't know how big the jump in hitter discipline quality there is from AA to AAA but if he ain't foolin guys in AAA with his low spin rates I don't care how downhill he throws he's going to be a big bust when he gets to the bigs.

I'm not going to read too much into a rough couple innings for Anderson in his AAA debut. I'll wait for a significant sample size.

I still can't wait to see his statcast data.
