It is hard to stay motivated when the games essentially mean nothing. The Braves played their best baseball of the year leading up to clinching.

All of the starters have stumbled. until the last couple of days Swanson and Donaldson had been in deep slumps, McCann is in a deep slump, Freeman is slumping hurt, Acuna and Ender are just hurt, and suddenly our team at the end of the season is Albies and Nicky Singles. Pretty much the definition of ugly.
