Dion Toscano arrived in the United States this week.
Toscano signed a four-year, $7.5 million contract with the Braves in December and was expected to compete for a spot on Atlanta's bench this spring, but visa issues delayed his arrival by a couple of months. The 26-year-old Cuban defector did not play on his country's national team, so he was a relative unknown to the authorities who handle such legal matters. Toscano, projected to be a utility outfielder, will spend some time in the minors before being considered for the major league roster.
