I was looking for an update on Downs, here's the latest:
Scott Downs (finger) will see hand specialist Dr. Gary Lourie on Friday.
Downs hasn't pitched since he fractured the tip of the ring finger of his non-pitching hand while attempting to field a comebacker last Saturday. Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said that the southpaw was optimistic about pitching at some point this weekend, but we should have a better idea about his status after his checkup.
Kennedy's been OK vs us in Phoenix but not at the Ted. And the other two starters for the Pad this weekend are rookies who haven't exactly set the world on fire. I think sweep here, unless Hale is bad. Padres on the road is a nice way to get your first major league start, they ain't much on offense.
Venable owns the Braves.
Been away. Why is Hale starting? To give the others a rest?
