Im curious as to why Miley passed thru waivers to FA. Seems to me he would be exactly what Braves and many other teams could have had for a nothing prospect before allowing him to be gobbled up off the waiver wire.

Johnny Cuetos $22m option was declined by the Giants, no surprise there. However, he may not be a bad option for 4th/5th starter if cheap enough.
Re Yankees- They're much more likely to go for one of the big name shortstops than Freeman, plus they have SP needs. Freeman doesnt seem like a NY guy anyway.
Re Dodgers- Cant see it given all the FA's they have. Belly/Muncy can very easily cover 1B and Dodgers have to find some SP options. They basically only have Buehler and Urias right now.
Red Sox and Angels are the only non-Braves options i can see. I couldnt see Freeman relocating his family to Boston, LA yes. But Braves have probably botched this whole situation given they should have signed him before ST at a much much less likely deal than it is going to be down. 6 years/165-170 million would be terrible, im hoping for 5-140/150 at most.
Why is everyone ignoring the fact that Freddie recently bought a $10M oceanside mansion in Corona del Mar that he has only been able to use for month off season?
Yeah I get that part of the situation but with the threat of a lock out looming, is it wise to let even a FF to potentially cause chaos with all the voids that have to be filled in order to put a viable WS defender out there next spring. Manfreds threat is now 24 days away.
White Sox exercised Kimbrels option so he stays with them for $16m
However, they could look to trade him
Any wishers can take Kimbrel off their list.
I truly believe that Freddie has too much respect for the Braves and his mentor Chipper to go anywhere else. Chipper passed the torch on to him and Freddie will too be a lifer. Yes we probably cost ourselves some money by letting him get to free agency but I would be more than fine signing him to 5 yr 150m with 2 option years at 20m apiece.
Uh, no^
Chipper was a life long Brave for more personal reasons than money or loyalty.
