Because up til this point, his body of work has proven to be a top 5 if not top 3 pitching coach in the game. Only concern through his tenure has Ben the alarming rate of injuries, but whether McDowell is directly responsible for that or not can't be proven. Some of it is bad luck.Quote:

Some of it could be pressure of trying to perform and win on a bad team, but the McDowell reclamation specialities like Harang, Carpenter, Sheets are not doing well this year (Stults, Cahill, Johnson). It might be McDowells fault or our evaluation of those guys weren't spot on.
Nonetheless, Rogers body of work has shown otherwise, so we will see what he can do going forward with some of the higher upside arms that have yet to reach the majors.
