I've never seen anything like this.
When you throw meat balls, they tend to get hit like a howitzer
I really don’t think Greene is very good. Martin and Melancon will be fine.
It was just a perfect storm of ****ery tonight. It happens, just usually not against the worst team in the league. To be fair, as sketchy as our pen has been this year, we really have not had this happen too often this season. We have a pretty good record when leading after 7/8. Guess we were due. Baseball is weird.
Whats the pens ERA after the deadline, 15?

they are all decent but not great relievers who will help us
based on the data before they joined the braves and what I've seen since they joined I will say imo martin > melancon > greene
But all 3 fall in the category of decent useful but not great relievers
Like the ball that was hit past Charlie was a good pitch, He just slapped it the other way where Culberson wasn’t
My only worry is Martin may still be hurt. They aren’t overly wild. Also has to be some human element to changing leagues and teams
It remains an open question who our best relievers will be come September and October...could be guys like Webb and Sobotka...but there was little doubt we needed to add to the pool of available options...it would have been nice to get Vazquez but he wasnt available at a reasonable price
It's actually sort of impressive just how many of the relievers we counted on in the off-season/brought in during the season have fallen on their faces.
I am not blaming twit here. But he is using them very oddly to me. We are seeing guys being used in 4-5 and even more fun leads. Belvins. Weigel and others are not being utilized enough. Tomorrow basically we have Newk. Weigel. Tomlin. Blevins. I would tell the three stooges to stay at the hotel.
Enscheff was pretty confident about the Braves winning the East even if they stayed pat (relatively).
We're about to find out.
Nats and Mets are comin'.
We will only be paying Melancon and Greene about 20 million next year. Good times.
This will not continue. Hitters have been finding holes against our pen at historic rates. It's going to turn around very soon.
And you claimed Acuna was going to go 30/30 as a rookie, and promised to leave the board if he didn’t. We already saw how that turned out. Why are you so scared of the Mets? Low testosterone?
The funny thing is that they handed the “closer role” over to Greene, then decided after about 3 games it should be Melancon. Then he blows a game immediately.
The BP is full of non-elite arms that must be deployed properly to succeed. I have zero faith in Snit to deploy them correctly.
Glad they got them all together for this pic when they joined the Braves.

This board is full of reactionary ignoramuses.
Holy hell.
It's going to be amazing watching these guys in the playoffs. Can't wait.
Its like some people have never seen a bullpen slump before. The timing is admittedly awful, but stuff like this happens. All the time.
The new additions have been bad but let’s not gloss over the fact everyone has been awful including Luke and Newk since the all star break.
I think we will be ok and just as we were due to regress to the bad pre all star break, we are due to go the other way soon.
I’m more concerned about our mangers ability to properly use the pen then the pieces in it.
500 stole my thunder, I was going to post that.
Hey all. I'm just having fun. It will all play out like Enscheff said.
Melancon BABIP against as a Brave .500
Martin .400
Greene .643

I rarely get on you, but I have to ask this and not make it about YOU. The three stooges, will they help us or we need to look at our minor leagues because these pitchers actually suck unless you saw something different. Martin has velocity but no way to command, I do not know how Greene could get saves, he is like Tomlin, actual a twin and Melancon, when he was a closer threw harder than Martin, it is not there.
Wilson, Wright, Touisant, Anderson and Weigel throw mid 90's or higher. You think you being in the league a long time is better? No, it isn't.
Don't be a wise ass and answer the question.
AA is a good GM but that Melancon trade was stupid and that will be clear probably sooner than I hope. The other two trades made sense but I am afraid Greene is fools gold and the worst of the bunch. Martin looks like a good pitcher though and Melancon could be okay but not a 14 million dollar man!
They've been insanely lucky, sure they're not elite but they're not THIS bad.
Eventually they'll turn it around.
Travis Demeritte has a .815 OPS with Detroit so far and Allard hit 95 mph and 94 mph regularly his first start for Texas. We might end paying a higher price for a rental and Greene in trade than thought. I couldn't believe Allard could touch 95 mph again after his 88 mph to 90 mph last year. I knew he was said to be higher this year but I figured once called up the MLB guns would say more 90-91 mostly.
