Newly elected DA in Philly us making some exciting and hold changes. One I REALLY like is requiring prosecutors to justify the cost of incarcerating the defendant.
It costs 42k a year for them to house prisoners. There is the usual fearmongering from police and prosecutors. The ironic thing is they say it's insulting to the victims of crimes but I would imagine this will have the most effect on cases where there is no victim. If your on a jury and the person murdered someone no cost is going to deter you. A lot of other good changes. It's taken 50 years to break the justice system thus badly and nothing will fix it overnight although that's the attack I expect. Fact is everything he is doing he campaigned on so he is the literal will of the majority
