Since the power went out in Texas, the state’s most prominent Republicans have tried to pin the blame for the crisis on, of all things, a sweeping progressive mobilization to fight poverty, inequality and climate change.
“This shows how the Green New Deal would be a deadly deal,” Gov. Greg Abbott of Texas said Wednesday on Fox News. Pointing to snow-covered solar panels, Rick Perry, a former governor who was later an energy secretary for the Trump administration, posted on Twitter a quotation from a Forbes article by Robert Bryce, who wrote that “if we humans want to keep surviving frigid winters, we are going to have to keep burning natural gas — and lots of it — for decades to come.”

It was the very sort of freakish weather system now increasingly common, thanks to the unearthing and burning of fossil fuels like coal and gas. While the link between global warming and rare cold fronts like the one that just slammed Texas remains an area of active research, Katharine Hayhoe, a climate scientist at Texas Tech University, says the increasing frequency of such events should be “a wake up call.”
good advice from Ted...but also an amazing lack of self-awareness
actually no...people who have known him are pretty consistent in describing him as maladjusted...a good recent example is a article i read that had a description of the dinner Nikki Haley had with him when she was trying to decide who to endorse in 2016...it was an awkward cringe worthy experience
I like this lady
Our politics would be better with more mavericks like Sinema.
That is a good statement in theory
It isn’t practical in reality though
Like communism or unfettered capitalism
Imo either make the filibuster ironclad so it cant be removed in the future or remove it. Republucans have shown they dont play hy the rules they expect Demixrats to. If by some miracle Trump wins in 2024 and they take both houses of congress I fully expect them to get rid of the filibuster and expand the supreme court justice number.
Oh you got me there, I had no idea Republicans had ever had the Presidency and Congress...... the way I have seen Trumpocrats operate is when Democrats just consider doing something they will then actually do it citing some Democrats wanting to do it as justification. Trump likely had no clue he could add justices. I guarantee you he will add justices if elected again.
