glad we are holding on to late bloomer...his hitting has not been good this year...but i wonder if his early season injury has had some lingering effects
i might add that tyler is an important and well-respected member of the Council of Elders
Just as we were talking about the catching situation...
Even if he is just a slightly below average bat with plus or better framing skills, he is a solid value with that contract.
I like it.

At that price he could still be part of a good tandem.
On a per game basis, here is where Flowers has ranked in framing the last few years (minimum sample of 1000):
2018: #12 of 78
2017: #1 of 79
2016: #7 of 80
2015: #1 of 72
I thought he was amazingly good catching Dickey last year. Too bad we no longer have a knuckleballer to exploit that part of his skill set.
I really like Zuk, but this probably signals the end of him as a Brave.
Wonder if this signals a similar "take it or leave it" offer is in the works for Zook as well. Signing both to 1+1 deals perfectly bridges the gap to Contreras and keeps you from backing up the truck for Realmuto or spending big money on a Grandal/Ramos.
Keep in mind that Suzuki will be 35 in October. His bat is still a plus even with the dropoff in homers, but Flowers is the younger.
I wonder if the Braves just put the offer out there and told the catchers that the first man to agree to the terms gets the contract.
I'm hoping this is a sign the Braves are correctly valuing catcher framing now that AA has come over from the Dodgers and pulled the FO into the 21st century.
I would be surprised to see Suzuki extended with his poor pitch framing metrics. With Flowers in place as a safety net, hopefully they aim higher this off season. Suzuki seems to be in the same boat as Markakis...Plan C or D if other bigger fish can't be caught.
Probably Zuk is not coming back because of his number on the back!!
Excellent. Now bring in McCann as the other side of the platoon and our pitching staff will be in good hands.
I'd try to bring in a better offensive catcher.
Already have offensive questions at SS, 3B, CF, and Muk is a FA.
That's half the damn lineup but good for TFlo, hope he's the backup though.
