I hope the message is that the MLB disciplinary actions are stupidly harsh in comparison to past actions.
The best thing the Braves can do is somehow acquire a bat for LF and/or 3B.
Signing Frazier makes all the sense in the world now, even if I think it's better to give Camargo a shot at 3B.
Somehow swinging a trade for Ozuna also makes a ton of sense, even if it means taking on another bad contract to get it done.
Problem is, I don't think the Braves have the cash to make moves like that happen. I hope I'm wrong.
The Braves are right on the edge of the section of the win curve where added projected wins are most valuable:
https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/whic...-the-next-win/
There are paths to 85+ wins that involve transactions the Braves can likely afford.
For example, dumping MAdams, signing Frazier at 3/33 and a trade with the Marlins for Ozuna/Tazawa puts the Braves right at $108M.
A trade for Prado/Ozuna puts the Braves at a slightly lower payroll number.
Trading for Piscotty and signing Frazier is even cheaper.
There are things the Braves can do to make a bit of a "win now" show without mortgaging much of the future. Unless they are paring payroll back under $100M, there is no reason they can't push to climb the valuable portion of win curve they are currently sitting.
Dump Kemp and acquire Ozuna. Let Camargo play.
extent Kemp
Call up Acuna, Wright, Allard, Riley, on day one.
Go for it all the next two-three years while we have Inciarte and Freeman producing. Win it and give big middle finger to MLB.
Get a Manfred cardboard cutout where each win you peel off a bit to reveal his bikini
So MLB is mean now? Fans feelings are hurt or something.
I could see ownership loosening the strings bc they know the backlash sucks right now
I get that, but I somehow hope they don't dole out a couple of big (and unwise) contracts just because the casual fan is disappointed. I call a little bit of BS on the article. Braves cheated and MLB dropped the hammer. All well and good. But now the Braves should just go to Plan B because of the setback?
Frazier's alright, but I see him as Uggla who can actually play a position in the field. I see another Markakis situation arising, where he'll sign with the team that offers him a 4th year.
