A strategy I’ve wondered about is just signing a massive haul of guys like Backstrom and saying **** the penalty if you know you’re picking in the 20s. I recently posted an article about how teams won’t go full bore because of the risk of the strategy not planning out with signing, say, 10 first round guys because someone will figure it out. But if you’re confident in your scouts, signing something like 20 guys to overslot deals like we’ve signed Owens to and maybe just 2 or 3 massively overslot deals just intrigues me.
