Does American Acuna ever participate in the HR derby? Or is he considered not good enough?
Swinging like that for a while could definitely cause you to get into some bad habits. Not sure that’s such a stretch.
Mlb needs to put Alonso in derby
...who is American Acuna?
I think Riley would win it. He does not hit many grounders at all. He crushes everything. I am thinking between Jack Clark and Gorman Thomas. He has a beautiful swing when he hits it.
Jack Clark has a career K rate of 17% and a career walk rate of 15%.
Riley is nothing like Jack Clark, and it’s odd you keep bringing him up as a comp.
Fifteen years ago, Bobby Abreu, a Venezuelan, hit 37 HRs prior to participating in the home run derby and two after. I think it's safe to say all the markers are there and Acuña will suffer the same fate.
Edit: It was fourteen years ago and it was 18 before, six after. But the Venezuelan thing....well, Acuña is screwed.
