Okay, here is a novel idea that I haven't heard anyone mention yet: Buying low on Alex Wood from the Reds. He's coming off injury, he'll only be owed like 4 million dollars for the rest of the year, and he was really good before his injury. Its really hard to gauge what his cost might be, but if we could get him relatively cheaply he would satisfy a lot of the criteria that people seem to want out of this trade deadline.
I mentioned a similar plan when news broke of Wheeler's injury, but I really like the idea of buying low on a player with an expiring contract who is coming off an injury for a non-competing team. It just seems like such a good way to address our issues cheaply. It obviously has some risk associated with it, but I think I'd be willing to take on that risk given then potential upside.
Morosi’s latest article says the reds are willing to listen on Luis Castillo and lists the Braves first with a proposed package lead by Pache and Anderson. Morosi is also notoriously full of ****.
There is really nothing realistic out there I’d trade Pache for.
The two rehab starts Gausman has made speaks to him being back on his game. You plug him in for Wilson and you have a rotation you can take to the bank. You only need three for the postseason.
Now go get a bullpen stud.
