I still push for Betts to be included in any deal for Heyward. When Cherington says "no", I tell him there's one other option if he really wants him.
Nava, Eduardo Rodriguez, and Rafael Devers.
Nava replaces Heyward in RF and is a much less expensive extension candidate (allowing Hart to try to lock J-Up up), Rodriguez will be ready to step into the rotation by late next season and give us a serious high-end front three for the foreseeable future with Julio and Alex, and Devers projects as a franchise 3B who could hit in the middle of the lineup for years.
All three could conceivably be in the lineup/rotation when the new stadium opens if things fall right.
Rosenthal on MLB Network surmising that we might jump in as a darkhorse for Lester if we moved J-Up.
FWIW, Lester doesn't live far from the ATL and has said all along that it's much more about the best situation for his family than the money for him.
Still don't see it personally - think it's either the Cubs or back to Boston.

I thought you were a journalist at one point in time; brackets are used to indicate that a quote has been edited. A liberty that I'm very much allowed to take.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch is linking Atlanta and the Cardinals in trade talks, saying they match up well and a lot of people have said the Cards love Heyward.
"The Cardinals do appear to line up well with Atlanta, which could make at least one of its free agents available for trade. Jason Heyward, a gifted defensive player in right field, is a free agent at the end of the 2015 season — exactly the kind of term the Cardinals would like. Justin Upton also is signed through the end of the 2015 season. The Braves, guided by new president of baseball operations John Hart, who is effectively the general manager, would probably seek pitching, and the Cardinals continue to have depth there."
Baseball America also said us and the Red Sox were the two teams with the most representatives to watch Yoan Moncada yesterday. He sounds pretty intriguing: http://www.baseballamerica.com/inter...cada-showcase/
I'm not opposed to Gattis playing LF.
The thing is, Gattis already has bad knees... him playing left field would exacerbate the problem more than catcher IMO.
Best to trade him to the AL where he can DH and a team can just use his offense.
If you had to give one 6 year extension for 22M this offseason...who is the safer bet? Justin Upton or Jason Heyward?

Jeff Francoeur signs minor-league deal with #Phillies that includes invite to big-league spring training.
Hm so one of the best organizations in baseball loves and values Heyward.
Hmmmmmmm.
But see, what you don't understand, is that EVERY player in MLB goes to free agency when they have one year remaining on their contract. If you can't comprehend that, then you are a damned fool!
And Jason Heyward is a bum.
He wants to go play for the NYYankmees way up there in the Empire State? Well let him! We don't need his gold glove or versatility or offensive skillset!
Trade his ass. Let's recoup some value while we still can. A few B-grade pitching prospects that will surely languish away in obscurity is most definitely better than contending in 2015!
Unless Stl wants to give us Wacha then no thanks.
Shelby Miller/Martinez arent much better than what we have now.
Desmond turned down 7/107.
