Nah they'd want prospects back i would presume if Bryce went to LA, they have plenty of SP. Ryu, Kershaw, Buehler, Maeda, Hill, Urias is healthy, amongst others.

Makes sense. I was thinking how the tables turn on Philly fans if Harper goes to LA and we get Pederson as a result. Then, we sign Kimbrel for 2 years. :)
No way that even get close to happening, and if it did, we'd have to fork over several prospects.
Still, I'd love to have Pederson. I get the "no need for another lefty" narrative, but he'd be a great pick-up for a spot starter and/or added bench piece. That power would play well in SunTrust.
I'd happily do Allard for Pederson.
Kershaw shut down for the second time this spring. Ruh Roh
All very true and market size means less now in a more tightly nationalized economy that it did a generation or two ago, but there's still more cache in playing in LA than playing in Philly (or Atlanta or Minnesota or Houston, etc.). New York and LA are still the creme de la creme of sports markets and that is likely playing into Harper's thinking at some level.
No.
If they actually were able to get Harper on the shorter deal, suddenly a Kluber trade would make a lot of sense too. Dodgers get Kluber to guard against more Kershaw troubles, Indians get Pederson, Verdugo, and maybe a throw-in arm and solve their OF issues. Would make them really left-handed at times, but Lindor, Ramirez, and Santana are all switch-hitters and Chang or Ramirez could slide over to 2B in Kipnis' place when they wanted an extra RH bat in the lineup.
In other news, former Brave Rob Whalen has retired at the age of 25 because of depression and anxiety. I feel bad for the kid having to give up his dream for a non-injury related reason.
