Braves players don't get rested until they are hurt, at which point they miss more time than regularly resting them.
This is the way.
Are you kidding me? Or just trying to get me going?
This is about the obliques and golf: "Golf can be hard on the obliques because of the rotational movement involved in the swing. The backswing stretches the obliques, and the downswing recoils to help with rotation. The obliques help you twist to the right, while the erector spinae muscles on the left side of your back resist this rotation."
I know Riley played golf just a few days before his injury and shot a 75. Personally, I think they should be told they can't play golf on their off days
during the season. They could have been what hurt him :-(
I know in the past some of pitchers played a lot of golf during the season (I'm thinking of Smoltz) but they were pitchers. The golf swing can mess up a batter's swing.

I can’t quite tell if you’re being serious when you explain to us that a golf swing is rotational.
Ok, so you were serious.
I think it’s blatantly obvious that swinging a golf club is bad for an oblique. So much so that I figured maybe you were joking by quoting that.
Anyways…carry on.
So how can it be justified that Riley was playing golf while he can't play baseball? If he did it without permission or against advice, he should be fined. If someone actually approved him to play, they should be fired
They mentioned that he did not play last night, which should be obvious. He had to be there since it was his foundation's tournament
As I understood it, he was just there.
I have no idea if he played after he went out with the oblique. Someone else said that. However he did play just two days before he went out with the oblique injury. The announcers were talking it up about how he had scored a 75 which is a really good score for an amateur.
Sometimes there are conditions written in a players contract. For the very reason above batters (not pitchers) should not be playing golf.
For instance Ron Gant's career with the Braves ended when he was in a dirt bike accident during the season and broke his leg. The Braves released him. "The Braves had a business decision to make, and citing the stipulations of the contract which Gant broke by riding a dirt bike, the club released him and paid him about $900,000 in termination pay."
