Albies Even Higher On Kiley McDaniel's Latest List

Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

I assume his age will keep him at one level per year for now, but I don't expect that high-A will pose much more of a challenge for him than did low-A. Kid can hit.

We move top prospects fast if they have success. Heyward played in low A at 18 and high A and AA at 19. Andruw Jones played in low A at 18, then high A, AA, AAA and the majors at 19.

My guess is Albies starts in high A and gets a mid-season promotion to AA.

He is on track to be major league ready at some point in 2017.

Why would you bring up Heyward? Albies is actually good

Furcal also made the jump from A ball to the majors. It turned out later that he was 22 at the time, but we didn't know that.

And you complain about how "we're" always the ones who bring up Heyward... yet you have about 10-20 smug little cheap shots a day on completely unrelated topics

I recall reading the Braves like to give players a full season at Rome. When those prospects are 21 or older obviously they cant afford to spend a whole season there but even Andruw spent a whole season there while hitting 25 homers and 100 RBI.

Fortunately, he's not big enough to ever believe he's a HR hitter.

Those of you who have seen him, is he good enough to move Simmons, or do you move him to second?

I really thought Simmons' bat would've started developing by now.

He's in Rome right now. We definitely aren't at a point where we need to worry about that.

I've seen him and Davidson a lot. I live in Douglasville and it's an easy ride. Anywhats, because of Simmons' arm, he makes unreal plays. Albies has as much range, but not the arm of Simmons. He's a good defensive shortstop, but wouldn't move Simmons off SS. He routinely makes plays behind 2B and I think his value is either position if they want to move him to 2B.

Doesn't have an arm that's nearly as good as Andrelton's, but who does??? He's quick and smooth with pretty soft hands and good instincts, but he's not good enough to move Simba. Of course if you kept them both and turned Peterson into a Super-Utility guy you'd always be really strong up the middle.

That said, much like Peraza, he'd be just fine at SS if Hart & Company received a really good return for Simmons and pulled the trigger. McDaniels tends to adjust players' positions on his lists if there's at least a decent chance the player will have to move off his current position - he's got Corey Seager at 3B even though the Dodgers are still adamant they're not going to move him (he's still only played 13 games at 3B for Oklahoma City).

I think that he could stick at short in the bigs, and I agree with the conclusions here: soft hands, good range, surprising arm, really solid feel and head for the game. Saying that he could play SS in the majors is a fur piece from saying he could move Andrelton. If his bat continues to play, I think it's way more likely that he displaces Jace (with the possibility of eventually displacing Tron).
