Nice to see some extra base hits from Peraza. He's only 21. Still has some time to fill out and develop some pop.

Still in no hurry to ship Cameron off until someone knocks our socks off with an offer, but *AMN Mallex is coming fast.

Wonder if Hart could somehow force someone to take Johnson to get Maybin?
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

I love it that the Braves are competitve this year but I would have really liked to have seen what CB could have done with 500+ ABs

Maybe we can move A.J. at the deadline for something and you can get your wish partially with CB starting the rest of the way. Seems the Braves have given up on him sorta (and in alot of ways I don't blame them), but we have nothing to lose by having him start on a team that's not going to the playoffs.

I really am loving him and Davidson. The only two bats I am really high on in the system and look to have above average ceilings as hitters.

Everyone has their favorites...they are mine too, but rough start or not, Ruiz/Peterson, Mallex/Peraza....they may or may not amount to world beaters, but they are exciting in different ways.

Peraza and Smith bring other elements like speed and defense. I am a little higher on Peraza because he has a better hit tool. But neither guy really projects to be better than .750 OPS type bat. It is not that I dont like them. My expectations just are not nearly as high.

Thats fair. Albies is a legit top 25ish prospect at this point and being one of the youngest players in his league. He is truly a special prospect.

If we had such thing as untouchables, Albies and Davidson are it. Davidson's walk rate is absurd.

He needs to improve his swing and miss rate though. That's the aspect that is holding him back and likely holding back his power potential.

Yeah but he is really young for his level and the strikeout rate is not alarming.

As long as he maintains this rate and it doesn't increase.

Albies is so small I can't get too excited about him. Esp with him playing Ss or 2b where I hope we have long term solutions

I'm watching Davidson and d Peterson and Ruiz. Bc we need those guys so much

I guess the question with Davidson and the strike outs are this. Is he striking out because he ends up taking some borderline pitches due to his patience, or is he striking out because he is swinging and missing at pitches out of the zone? He has struck out 39 times swinging, 23 times looking, and 3 times that were questionable. Overall, his K% is 25.7% on the year. I don't know how that compares to other hitters in his age group though, so I looked up Michael Chavis's numbers. Michael was in Braxton's draft class and is at the same level. In fact, Michael is the guy I wanted for Atlanta in that draft. Right now, Michael is King 33% of the time while walking just 6% of the time. He has swinging strike outs at a lot higher rate than Braxton. IMO, this bodes well for Braxton and not so well for Michael.

My hope is that Braxton's bat control on swinging strikes gets better, and some of those contacts end up going out of the park.
