Greg Maddux and Tom Glavine will officially be Hall of Famers! Joining them in the Class of 2014 will be Frank Thomas.
And as announced a few weeks ago, Bobby Cox, Joe Torre, and Tony LaRussa also are elected.

No biggio.
Maddux at 97.1%
Glavine at 91%
Shame, Maddux should've at least broken Seaver's record.

Biggio misses by 2 votes.
16 people left Maddux off their ballot.

Maddux on MLB Network now via phone.
I'm getting so much goosebumps right now. Why did you have to pitch for Boston and St. Louis Smoltzie! Could've had all 3 of you PLUS Bobby in the same year!!

Final question to Greg.
"Who was the best hitter amongst the 3 of you (Glav, Maddux, Smoltz)?"
Maddux: Glav best hitter, Smoltz had more power.
Host to Smoltz: Do you agree John?
John: I didn't get a chance to be in that commercial!"
Glavine: Hey John, chicks dig the long ball, not the bald spot.
Maddux: You didn't win enough games by then.
John: I wasn't a Nike guy.

Smoltzie probably would've missed being elected this year anyway, after seeing that Biggio still didn't get in. The ballot was just too damned crowded. And now I'm thinking he won't get in next year because the ballot will still be packed. Push him back enough and he'll go in with Chipper, who's a cinch for 1st ballot election.
Some of the writers believe than nobody deserves first ballot induction. Probably a few of them turned in blank ballots.
Actually kind of pleasantly surprised that Glavine's total was over 90%. Figured some of the voters might take a "make him wait" stance. Some of the results could be combination of votes against those suspected of PED use + the fact that 300 game winners as going to become as extinct as the dodo bird.
Despite the disasters in '96 & '99, do we still have *some* claim on Torre? Great Braves player and managed them during only period that they were good, during 80's.
What kind of mentally ill, shambling penisflower doesn't put Greg Maddux on a HOF ballot?

Is Druw a HOF'er?
Has Glavine already had his press conference? I saw it mentioned on ESPN News, but don't see the feed active on the Braves' site.
Really happy for those two. Some of my best childhood memories were watching them on TBS with my grandfather. Maddux should have gotten a higher percentage though. 16 left him off? So stupid, but par for the course with these writers.
Great to see these two Braves pillars go in, though I'm disgusted they weren't unanimous picks. It's really simple; you're a Hall of Famer or you aren't. Stop making it complicated, delusional baseball writers. Adapt to the times.
Also, Biggio and Piazza belong in.
Glavine is on now; braves.com is streaming it.
Schuerholz is with him.
