    Julio T...

has got to be the most talented pitcher I have ever seen but lacks athletic mental toughness. He doesn't get a couple calls in the first and he melts like a candle. The Braves should trade him although not right now. I would wait until the winter meetings after we see if he can raise his value these last couple months.

I don't think he's that talented. His stuff is so-so to me

The Braves and their extensions (like Shanks) built him up as the next great Atlanta ace as he was coming through the minors. That had more to do with the fact that the system really sucked than it did with reality. Teheran has always looked like a solid 3, marginal 2 since he has been up - stretches of excellence balanced by stretches of disaster.

If the Braves are smart they will nurse him along, get him back in a stretch of excellence then trade him for what they can get.

For 60 starts over two seasons the guy was a baller, averaging 200 innings of frontline stuff.

I don't know what's wrong with him, but neither do I understand giving up on him.

Its a legit thread Professor. Might not be one you agree with but it is legit. Right now, would you want him on the mound in a game you had to win? Not this year's version I wouldn't. And since we are now in full on rebuild mode why not??? He is at best a three. So why not wait until the winter and get two solid offensive prospects or maybe an everyday 3b?

exactly. He was built up but no one complained when he was the one stopping losing streaks last year with Miller-like support. He may not be the ACE I thought he could be, but he's not devoid of talent as some suggest. No way I'd give up on him at this point.

He's still an ace at home. He just sucks on the road for whatever reason this year.

He does get rattled to easily, especially this year. Still think the they should hold onto him.

The OP is not wrong. I think he would be a good trade candidate in the offseason even if he were pitching better. We need young controllable bats somehow and he's more replaceable than Miller or Wood. He will still have trade value this offseason even with the inconsistencies.

He has always outperformed his underlying peripherals... I think he's talented, but he is not and has never been an ace

I have no idea what's wrong with him, but to blame it on lacking mental toughness is strange, among many other things.

We have a board member, who insisted that Wisler sucks after just 2 major league starts. Let's ask him what he thinks.

He has very good stuff. That means nothing if he constantly crumbles under adversity. He needs some counseling. I'm not ready to give up on him.

He got blown up twice last year. Twice in 33 starts. Those are some pretty short stretches of disaster.

Shhhh Julio3000. Surely that doesn't count and he's trash this year. Whatever people. There is something wrong. I haven't liked his body language much at all this year and he's always been kinda demonstrative. When he misses and is not aggressive, he's been punished. He's the trade flavor of the year, but I'm in the boat that says he's not just a 3 in the rotation. Of course he's got to correct his issues, but I still believe.

I never gave up on Julio. I just have been worried about his long term health because of his mechanics. There's a reason Wren and Co. Tried to alter his delivery in the minors. He's going to have shoulder problems like Hanson.

That doesn't make him a three. He was a borderline Ace for his first 200 innings. So this is the version you give more weight?
