Decent AAA debut for Whalen. Struggled in the 4th inning, giving up 2 runs, but struck out 6 and allowed 6 baserunners (4 hits, 2 BB) in 5 innings.

Apparently swapped Whalen for Banuelos, but the announcement was not well-done. Glad to see someone handle a AAA promotion for a change.

Still baffled why we dropped him down after a great start

We probably planned to send him to Danville all along but let him pitch a few times in Rome once he was ready to get him on the mound before Danville's seasons started.

I think we read too much into guys changing levels sometimes.

Once he was there though and showed he belonged, why drop him down a level that he's too good for?

They stuck with the plan. I'm sure there's a reason in their minds they wanted him in Danville.

He didn't show he belonged at Rome... He struggled

Unless we are at the games, we only see things in two dimensions. As long as they were upfront with Allard about their plans, I don't think we (or he) should take too much issue with where he's playing. From the milb.com interview published earlier in the week, Allard didn't seem at all out-of-joint with how things have unfolded.

He had 3 starts... His first starts of the year. He did struggle in the first 2, but was very solid in the 3rd (5.0 ip 3 h 1 er 0 bb 5 k). Since those first 2 bad starts to the year, here's his totals...

    32.1 ip 21 h 4 er 5 bb 38 k 1.12 era

So, while I guess it's technically true allard struggled at Rome, he's been a totally different pitcher since his 3rd start that was at Rome

Wow, I don't think I've ever seen that. 3 Errors from a starting pitcher in one game.

All throws--2 attempted pick-offs and 1 attempted assist--so it looks like home plate isn't the only thing he has trouble locating.

Don't know why they are resting Swanson, but Camargo is hitting .450 over his last ten games (in some of which he's played 3B) so he's taking advantage of it.

Seems he's been off a lot. I know he had the AS game, but still seems like more than a few days off lately

This is his first full season. Might want to keep him fresh for September call up.

Allard is so good. I really think he's going to be really good for us for a long time.
