These are the Atlanta Brave prospects who have baseball cards in 24 bowman.
Bowman Prospects
BP-11 Douglas Glod
BP-21 Isaiah Drake
BP-39 Diego Benitez
BP-118 Luis Guanipa
BP-130 Sabin Ceballos
A Very underwhelming group
We haven’t riffed on Bowman in a while.
Y’all remember that video where he’s sweating to death and that drop of sweat just hangs there?

I've never seen him live as you did during his time in the minors, but I just think he's an example of how the latest player development regime is intent on rushing guys. I'm just skeptical of the "let's challenge them" mantra. Guys start pressing and develop bad habits trying to keep up with more experienced players. I've always thought that you have to build a foundation at each level before being promoted. They clearly didn't do that with Smith-Shawver.
Another example is Isaiah Drake even though he's a galaxy away. Everything I read this off-season indicated he needed another season in the FCL. So what do the Braves do? Put him in Augusta where he can flash a 50% K-rate.

I dunno sometimes it's good to challenge guys - you can see if they are up for the challenge, but if not, they get their weaknesses exposed so THEY know what they are. In the minors, sometimes that doesn't happen. Alot of these guys have never not seen success for their whole baseball lives.

But then they short-circuit their development by taking cheats trying to keep up instead of working on a more solid foundation. That's how guys get exposed. Baseball is constant adjustments and one starts to learn that by first playing against comparable talent and not getting overwhelmed. Some guys can handle it, but most sports are as much between the ears as it with the physical tools and when you start getting into a young player's head, it rarely ends well.
The one thing that has always been great with the scouting department for the Atlanta Braves has been their ability to know when to say when. In some of the more recent cases like Tavarez and Benitez, from what I have seen, they do have talent, and they flash it more times than not. But it’s also quite evidence, that straight fastball during BP has done nothing for their approach in games.
The Braves know more than we all do when it comes to what their players are doing on those practice fields. With the way the major league team is set up though, now is the time to really focus on player development whether you have to wait an extra year on a player should not be a big deal. I'm sure they have a long term plan, but I want them to going back to letting the player remove doubt before promoting them. Like you said 50...between the ears is just as critical for these players.

I disagree. We all see how some players improve after leaving a franchise. Sometimes, it takes the right situation, the right coach, and most importantly the right time, for prospects to reach their potential.
Obviously some guys just don't have the talent to make it to the show.

Murphy makes me hard
I've refrained from too much posting about these minor league teams. Some of the performances are so putrid, I have only been going to one a week. The FCL and Rome batters will leave you all crying. And not hard like Hulavol!
Benitez, Tavarez, Nacho, Baldwin, Drake, Glod are/were the best chance to get this farm team going position-wise. Some of the most putrid swings and approaches I've ever seen. Just no contact. Pedro Cerrano was Tony Gwynn compared to them. (Nacho/Baldwin notwithstanding). The international guys are not without talent so I don't understand. I've seen them work. Hard. But something throughout the lower levels is not clicking. Jobu help us.
