If it helps, your data aligns with the census bureau. You should be commended for finding reliable data scouring deep state aligned Google’s search result

1 year is a trend? That's what we're going with? Cause 2022 was pretty much line with the previous 5 years.

What do the years prior to 2018 look like?

I would be willing to be bet the last decade plus has similar patterns.

Well thats quite the leap - Even for you.

Now that the awful policy of restrictions are lifted its an easy decision for many people that left originally.

And as we move forward into the future don't be shocked when the migration trends continue in the direction they have the last two years.

What year will New York be net positive and Florida net negative?

    2024?
    2030?

You’re better at reading trend lines than the 115’s. Please enlighten us

Florida is never net negative and I doubt they will be since old pople move there for climate. But with the inflow of old people so goes the outflow of old people to the next life.

What we did see happen during hte pandemic was unheard of migration trends of young people. That will completely stop in the future.

Okay. So Florida is never. Got it.

    How about New York?

People are eager to move back to those $900K 1 bedroom houses

That is net migration figures. Population growth is a completely different story but hard to argue with 40 year trends.

NY is completely dependent on politics. If taht ever changes we will see inflows that will shock the country.

Same thing with Cali. It would never happen but if it was ran by someone like RDS it would net inflow migration that far exceeds Florida and I think you'd agree with that statement.

I went back and looked at all of the available years of data on your link. Everything about the last 2 years completely falls in line with trends of the previous 12 years. It's an ebb and a flow with a small range of movement. Acting the last 2 years are representative any sort major trend change is extremely laughable.

NY is differnt because the population increase mostly comes from internal growth.

Net migration will probably be close to a push over time since its still one of the most expensive places to live.

Well the differeence being we saw a massive flow of young people move to florida which is not all too consistent with the past 40 years when most net migration are older people.

Would you agree that New York should pursue similar policies to Florida where they remove red tape regulation around construction so that it’s less expensive?

I'm always in favor of less regulation so of course I'm going to agree with this.

That doesn't mean that builders should build far more than future trends indicate are needed.

Hey look so this entire back and forth was meaningless because you agreed we should be more like Florida and Texas.

    Let’s all move on now
