Minority pupils compose 89 percent of Chicago’s public-school student body. In third through eighth grades, the percentage of Black students proficient in reading and math are 11 percent and 6 percent. Hispanics: 17 percent, 11 percent. The percentage of 11th-graders proficient on the SAT in reading and math: Black students 10 and 8; Hispanics: 16 and 17. In 22 schools, not a single student can read at grade level; in 33, not a single student can do math at grade level. Even the supposedly good news is disgusting: Last year, the graduation rate was a record high 82.9 percent — even though chronic absenteeism is 49 percent among low-income students.

These are the results of public-school operational spending increasing 58 percent in a decade, to $26,356 per pupil.
Not giving the parents of these children school choice because you’re so beholden to teacher’s unions is what actual racism in K-12 education looks like.

You going to address this or nah?
No , dont know the scratched surface details.
Who comiled data and their agenda, everybody in this has an agenda we agree.

When still coaching sport 10 years ago home schooled kid were for lack ofa better word odd.
2024 teaching music about 2/3 of my students are home schooled and I"m finding the opposite to be true.
    Well adjusted young people.

Please pass on whatever info you have.
Will try to make time to read
But, I'd ask the same, look at the roots of and the people constituting this shadow privitization movement to create a for profit education system.

We all agree the education needs repair.
    We share that base

Rapper and entrepreneur Jay-Z has entered the debate over establishing a school choice voucher system in Pennsylvania, a proposal that has caused a months-long budget feud in the politically divided legislature. The push to create private school vouchers has drawn some unlikely allies, including the state’s Democratic governor—a move at odds with much of his party and public school advocates.

And now, Team Roc, the philanthropic arm of Jay-Z’s entertainment company Roc Nation, is putting its support behind the school voucher measure as the state legislature buckles down to pass a budget, due by the end of the month. Jay-Z’s philanthropy has launched a multi-faceted marketing and awareness campaign in Philadelphia to make sure families know about the efforts to provide taxpayer-funded private school options.

    Jay-Z gets it

Did you notice the word "children"?

He's not talking about the harm your professor friends are doing to young adults in college.

I support education, not indoctrination. Leftists proudly do their best to stop the former

thou shall not covet they neighbor's high educational attainment, long life spans and high incomes

i give y'all credit for adhering to that particular commandment

(maybe Louisiana should add that as the 11th commandment)

    (or would that be blasphemy)

y'all sadly uninformed of hahvahd's and the ivies long history of antisemitism dating back many decades...and of course their even long entanglements with slavery and racism (hello Woodrow Wilsom former president of Princeton University)

i'm glad some of you are finally realizing how malign and mediocre hahvahd and the rest of the ivies are

I would replace mediocre with detractor.

I.e, I would hire a person from the schools ever again

    to be pedantic

mediocre is an adjective and should be replaced with another adjective

    i already used malign

it would be awkward to go with malign and malign
    "I am a victim, I will tell you. I am a victim."

    "I am your retribution."

eh...fewer than those who have fallen for the populist schtick about "indoctrination not education" being what happens in higher education...they're the ones receiving very large fiscal transfers each and every year from those with higher levels of educational attainment

economic outcomes are heterogeneous within any group

but on average the highly educated make a lot more dough than those less educated and our fiscal system effects large transfers from the former to the latter every year...no flowers or thank you notes expected...the more fortunate should be doing this for their less fortunate brothers and sisters (although i understand that in some cases it causes wounded pride)
