It's May and Wheeler and Saurez are pitching out of their asses. We're 10 games over .500 without our ace, a massive underperformance from Acuna, Riley, and Olson. We're not in a bad spot right now. We obviously need to get better, but you have to be optimistic that our woes will get better.

We were further back later in the season when chasing (and catching) the Mets a couple of years ago so the panic button should be placed outside the reach of children. That said, it has been frustrating and I think everyone's expectations were a bit too high given the fact that the entire offense had career years last season and repeating that probably isn't in the cards.

They‘re absolutely going to make it. And they‘re absolutely getting disposed of in the DS again.

Maybe they‘re trying the wild card route this year?

I (and probably some others) talked about how players like Olson and Ozuna had career years last year that they weren’t likely to repeat. However, it’s a bit disingenuous to say the entire lineup had career years last year. Olson, Ozuna(lol), Arcia, and arguably Albies. Though, Albies wasn’t far off from his typical year. Acuña had an incredible season last year, but I don’t think there’s any doubt that that’s not the limit of what he can achieve with the bat. Riley didn’t even have his best season last year. Harris is too young to say, but from what he’s shown in his career, he can still improve. Murphy had a career first half, but an all-time bad 2nd half, though he’s probably a max .850 OPS guy anyway. (So, maybe you can throw him in there with the career year fair too.) And we supposedly upgraded LF this year (again, supposedly).

But it could be Acuna's limit. You just don't know the answer to that. Bottomline we have a soft stretch of schedule over the next 10 after today that anything less than 7-3 is unacceptable.

Buddy, he was on pace to be even better than that in 2021 before the knee injury and he’s only 26. Now maybe he doesn’t exceed his OPS from last year, but I refuse to believe it will be the only time he has a season with the bat in the neighborhood of that one.
