Acuna...
Bases empty - 124 wrc+
Men on base - 81 wrc+
High leverage - .68 wrc*
Just mind boggling how this offense is struggling. They are better than this. Can only hope the turnaround comes soon. Hoping the returns of Riley and Murphy will be the shot in the arm they need.
Chopping With The Braves And Rolling With The Tide
Olson...
Low leverage - 126 wrc+
High leverage - 66 wrc+
Bases empty - 123 wrc+
Runners on - 84 wrc+
These 2. They are the problem
Its the Curse of the Freddito. If you had told me in November of 2021 that the Braves would only win one title in the window, I would have laughed but I expect it now. But the decision to not keep the core together always bites championship teams.
They had a magical offensive season last year and I expected regression. They aren't as bad as they are currently hitting and I expect things will pick up unless they start to press. They were relaxed last season because they were absolutely pounding the ball and beating up on everyone else. A couple of unexpected bumps in the road can put some negative thoughts in their collective mind, but they really aren't this bad.
Olson's been in the league for 8 seasons, 6 as a fulltime starter. He's only stunk this hard once before in the COVID season.
Acuna's only ever had 1 bad season before this year, the year he played with a bum knee. Even that year he was hitting better than he is now.
It's much more likely they're playing dinged up or in a prolonged slump. I'll point to Mookie Betts last year. Started slow, got warm in may, was hot all through the summer, then xooled off in September. Acuna and Olson if not hurt are fully capable of stringing together some hot months.

Phillies are running away. They've passed us

I’ve never seen Acuna miss fast balls right down the middle like this before. No clue what is going on but his timing is wayyyy off.

I'm more concerned with Acuña continuing to make little league mistakes. The whole team just looks pretty complacent right now.
Every pitcher basically follows the same script. To rh Braves. High heat inside and everything else away. They try to pull everything so basically late or grounders. To the lefties again high heat or down and in or other batter box. Again the lefties have to swing at every pitch so easy outs.
There is no approach or adjustment. Just go up and see if they can hit homers regardless of situation or pitch. This is not a slump. It is a lazy approach that filters down from the lazy coaches.
Coppy
With the next 13 games being the Nats, A’s, and Red Sox, we need to see a 10-3 or 11-2 run coming up.
