Peace out, Captain Redass. It's been real, and it's been fun, but I can't say it's been real fun.

Unless the Indians are sending significant cash then taking on Bourn's contract should be worth a significant prospect.

Sherman tweets that the final deal will be Bourn, Swisher and cash to the Braves in exchange for Johnson.

Probably why it hasn't gone through yet. League has to approve it because of the cash.

I don't get this deal. If they don't cover all of Bourn's money next year, why would we do this? And if they do cover all of it, why would they include him in the deal?

This pretty much tells us we won't be going after any FAs of any consequence at all this year...which is a bit strange, especially on the heels of the Olivera trade.

All depends on the money swapping hands, but any deal that gets anything for the untradeable Chris Johnson is good by me.

    I don't think that's necessarily true.

So we got back a player that had a good bit of success in his past here, another player who I care little about but whatever and money. It got rid of CJoh AND we got money back. I see nothing bad here.

I don't see that even being remotely close to what is going on here. This was about getting rid of CJoh.

Their contracts are only guaranteed through next year, so this "hurts" 2016, but likely frees up even more money for 2017. If it is as reported - Swisher, Bourn, 10+ million for Johnson - I like it.

We really shouldn't be grabbing FA's this offseason in my opinion. We need those FA's prime years to be 2017-2020. Anyone you get now might be falling off too hard.

That's how I see it as well. Contracts coming off the books sooner is better for that magical 17.
