Looks like he's picking up at AA like his other stops. If Peterson/Castro can't prove themselves, is it possible Albies gets a promotion this year? We've promoted from AA before, but those years we were in contention so I have no idea

There is 0% chance until we pass the super 2 deadline which I think is in early June. After that maybe. I expect to see him in September.

It is definitely possible that he could reach the majors at some point this year. But I think unless it is something devastating they will keep him in the minors until the September call ups. He is still very young, actually a few years younger than Swanson if i'm not mistaken

Albies could be in our lineup for a LONG time. He's so young that he's 7+ years away from what would be him prime. Insane.
He's far and away the youngest player in AA, he would have been one of the younger in A+ as well.
What would be the reason for promoting him early to Atlanta? We aren't competing this year regardless...... why risk bringing him up too early AND starting his clock?
Mallex is older and has played a full season at AA already.... my point isn't just about the service clock, its also about making sure the kid has had enough bats to work through slumps/advanced pitchers before getting to the majors. Mallex had that, Albies should get that this year.

I think he'll be a Billy Hamilton/Michael Bourn type player with an average cut down the middle - .260-.270 sounds about right.
I hope it's .280 with that speed, but I don't think he'll thrive, just be an above-average bench bat - which there's NOTHING wrong with. Every championship team needs a good bench OF.
Win, lose, or draw, watching Mallex and Albies at the top of the lineup with that speed is going to be fun to watch.

I'm fine if we call him up at the end of the year. I still think 2017 can be a decent year, and I'm ok with getting Albies and Swanson a look before we hit next year.
I'm also ok holding him back as well. But my guess is that the FO wants to open the new park with a bang, and having Swanson and Albies out there would do that.
FWIW...
Freeman - 167 ABs at AA or above before he was promoted (almost 21 years old to the day)
Heyward - 50 ABs at AA or above before he was promoted (20 years, 8 months old - 7 of those months spanned the 2009 offseason)
Furcal - 3 ABs at AA or above before he was promoted (22 years, 6 months old - 6 of those months spanned the 1999 offseason)
Andruw - 50 ABs at AA or above before he was promoted (19 years, 4 months old)

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?
I think 2017 could be a very decent year. I personally think we'll see Swanson to begin the year and Albies has a great shot to be there (It's fast, but I'm serious). Add those guys, Mallex, Blair and some guys for the BP and we're set. I'm still not thinking outside the realm of adding a really solid bat or SP. Just me though.
I think if the plan is for him to be a regular next year, then you want to play him this year. But I'd wait until after the deadline or roster expansion. He's so young you would want to play the numbers and keep him out of super 2. But it sounds like the Braves are looking to promote aggressively and use that as a selling point to future players and for contract negotiations. I assume if Albies does half of what is being projected that he'd be extended (unless he signs with Boras).
He still has things to work on - I just don't see the rush....
*SSS Alert*
But I'd like to see him take a couple more walks in AA, currently just 1 and he's already been caught stealing twice with just one successful attempt. Its nitpicky, but let him refine those skills. Much rather let him develop in AA and get another year of his prime for cheap.
Andruw and the rest were also promoted when we were really good and battling for the division. Totally different team.
