The least Weiters will take is a year with a player option, I'm betting.

I wouldnt be against Wieters if its a 1 or 2 yr deal.
I would prefer the Braves have a RHed CFer that can take some ABs away from Inciarte and Markakis, as well as be the defensive replacement for Kemp almost every game. Using Jace to backup Inciarte makes little sense if the goal is to time Inciarte's rest days for when a tough LHer is on the mound.
There's no reason to settle for Frenchy when Jennings is still out there.
A 4 man bench with no DH in play? I hope Snitker improves on his bench and bullpen usage in close/possible extra inning games then.
Looks like the Nats and Braves are the assumed favorites for Wieters

Wieters would be a 0.5-1 win upgrade over Recker since both are poor framers. If he signs for Castillo money it would be a good move. If he signs a 1 year deal it would be a great move and would allow the Braves to make a run at Lucroy next offseason.
If the Nats sign Wieters they could look to flip Norris. He is a good framer to pair with Flowers, and is young enough that we might be able to look forward to him improving offensively again.
Hopefully Clv can do the hard work of posting a new hypothetical lineup with Wieters in it! I just can't seem to picture what it would look like with him in place of Flowers.

The market for Hwang might be starting to heat up:

A lottery ticket at 3B is exactly what the Braves should be buying right now. Everything I have seen makes me think Hwang's floor is similar to Plouffe (.725+ OPS, ~2 WAR)), while his upside is similar to Kang (.800+ OPS, 3+ WAR)
Kang was posted in 2014 at the age of 27. The Pirates paid a $5M posting fee and then signed him to a 4/11 deal with a 5th year $5.5M option. Total price for a guy that has produced 6 WAR over the last 2 seasons: $16M...an insanely good value.
Literally nobody bid on Hwang when he was posted last year. He is 29 years old. If the Braves can get him for a about half the total price of Kang I would be all for it.
Chuck Garfien on his audio podcast today today said he is certain the Astros, Pirates, and Braves have made offers for Quintana.

A's sign Rajai Davis for $6M. He would have been a great 4th OFer, and that would have been a very affordable way for the Braves to add a win to the roster if they used him correctly. The A's were probably able to offer him more playing time than the Braves though.
