I think runners should go straight in to the bag and take the contact for a while. Defenders are blocking the bag, whether they think they are or not. It makes the distance longer for runners and since runners usually get to the contact area before the ball, it would be hard to catch and tag taking on a runner at full speed.

They can make it easier by enforcing the rules to all bags instead of home plate. People rip and tear **** all the time sliding into the primary bags
