If fangraphs data is right Newcomb is up from 60% strikes thrown last year to 63%.
I wonder of that's a better metric to look at than walks per nine. Does that mean his control is improving?
Newk had 40+ through 2 innings. he is sitting at 80+ right now. I think he might get through 6. Still looking sharp.
The walks in the first inning sucked but:
2 hits allowed in 6 inning (minor leaguers just can't hit him)
59% strikes thrown (needs to improve but not a bad percentage )
Recovered from a rough first inning which shows growth.
Yeah, good start from him. I like it.
Wilson may be making the trip to A+ soon.

Little Mo Cabrera to save the win for Newk.. see how he does.
Man - Newcomb is getting into the territory where you can pencil him in for 30 starts next year. If he struggles its worth it. The stuff is there.
Natural Immunity Croc
I honestly think he needs a chance like they gave Cabrera. He's old enough. Put him in MLB after the deadline at the latest and see what you've got. He has options if you need to bring him down. See if the mental part works itself out when he is facing better hitters and has better (still bad) umps.
We controll him until he's 30 now anyway, right? Let him play and if he sucks then we can move him into the pen.
